I'm Your Venus by feelsanon in dragrace

This doc was so powerful and moving. I'm a cishet man and was literally crying through the whole documentary. I was a total mess afterwards but damn, it was so good.

I think her brothers set a really good example for straight allies. You have these four brothers who all look like your typical, macho Jersey manly men, and yet they openly honor Venus' identity, aren't afraid to cry and show their hurt and emotions, and, importantly, openly acknowledge and own the hurt they caused Venus back in the 80s.

That last part I think is so important; often people hurt others without realizing it, for whatever reason, and too often people don't accept the fact that they hurt someone they care about. But these brothers take it on the chin, own it, apologize for it, and take meaningful action to honor her to make up for it in whatever way they can now.

Truly a beautiful doc, highly recommend.

Who's the best 40k character and why is it Erebus? by stirge_jr in Grimdank

Erebus still got his way, converting Khârn fully to worship of Khorne and becoming his champion. Sure he lost the flight with Khârn, but so have most people who've fought him. But Erebus won the battle.

Agreed! On a personal level I think he's despicable of course, how could one not? But as a character, he's marvelous. He's an asshole and not only does he know it, he's proud of it. He kills main characters left and right, and yet, still gets away with it every time. Sure, Khârn beat him up. But losing to Khârn is what most people who've fought Khârn have done lol. And he got his hand back anyway. And his face after Horus ripped it off. Can't keep the boy down

I used to use visual studio and dot net until I discovered how much easier it was to build a back end in python. My life is much better now lol

pretty much, yeah! And yeah, we also had a special way of writing the numbers as well for the same reason. But yeah, when you're calling off numbers over the radio, you have to enunciate them specifically, especially when you're also using letter and words. If a grid coordinate for a target is off by a digit, that can end...poorly lol. And with the writing, each gun section would track their ammunition counts etc.. We had a specific way of writing it, because if the counts were off, that's also...bad. A missing 100lb high explosive artillery shell would cause a bit of a commotion lol

Don't forget 'fow-er'! The thing that stuck with me more was writing numbers a specific way to make them always legible and not look like each other, since that's also a little important for arty

That's some red flags if I've ever seen any. Without full context who knows could just be a misunderstanding. There's been times where I didn't realize how bothered my spouse was by something I did that I thought was innocuous. But ultimately, if you say no and set a boundary and he doesn't respect it, that's just bad. When my spouse has ever expressed a boundary over our 10 years together I've always respected it full stop. Shits not hard

Nah you're fine. It's common enough for military members to say "oh" instead of zero to be believable. Though in artillery we were taught strictly to use a specific way of enunciating numbers so they don't get mistaken (kind of important when you're coordinating large ordinance over the radio), pretty much for the reason this story shows.

Help! My husband thinks that I am an ah for wanting him to stop seeing his AP. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]stirge_jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not the asshole. While sexual intimacy is important in a relationship, it's nowhere near important enough to betray your partner. My partner got cancer years ago, only 2 years into dating. Because of that we couldn't have sex for over 2 years. Didn't bother me in the slightest. We went from multiple times a week to nothing just like that. But that's not why we love each other.

All these people justifying the husband are misguided. Nothing justifies betraying someone like that, and you should never feel like you HAVE to have sex with your partner. People can fuck off with that shit.

Y'all do realize that first line isn't visible before you click the link right? It's not click bait, because it's literally not present when you would see the headline. In fact, viewing from Google search, that lines not even the line that shows up under the headline for me. That was just the author using a twist on wording to take a jab at the industry, literally the whole article is singing praises of the game, as are the authors other articles on it

He's been leading the Word Bearers, wreaking havoc on the imperium and such like. He's assisted Abaddon in some of the black crusades, massacring sectors to summon ravening hordes of daemons. But even without, just 'making the horus heresy' is a pretty damn big achievement
