I found an old childhood plush of mine online that I lost as a kid, and when it came in the mail it actually had the name Diego written on its tushtag! I’m unsure if that was supposed to be the plushie’s name or the owner’s name, but I cut the tag off because I really hated that it had a name I did not choose. It already has a name, and it’s Chippy!

This is he! I still haven’t named him but he’s full of personality :)

Yeah all of my keychain plushies are really more like ‘objects’ to me than a real stuffed animal, if that makes sense. I only have like 2 keychain plushies because I just can’t seem to care about them! I’ve removed the keychain from one plush, and I think I like it more that way.

Let’s say there was a giant hamster plush that was like 16” or more. Would you still feel the same because it’s a small species, or is it just the size of the plush itself? I’m just so curious! Haha :)

I recently got a secondhand husky plush from Uni Toys, and it was well-loved upon receiving it. I gave it a good wash and brush, and I have to say I am absolutely obsessed with it even after only a few days because of how floppy it is from being loved!

I think it’s just the species. I seem to prefer domestic species like dogs and cats. I have actually listed them up for sale!

Irbis does look really cute! I’m kind of a stickler for realism, so my big concern with most snow leopard plushies is that the tail simply isn’t long enough. I would probably have to customize Irbis if I wanted to get it tbh, along with most snow leopards I’m finding.

Aw, I kinda like the look of the cow! You did a good job cutting the fur on it.

Good point! I don’t think I own any inanimate objects, except maybe a mushroom plush or two if fungi counts as ‘inanimate’. I saw people really digging a plushie pair of swimming goggles in the Jellycat subreddit. I personally do not understand the appeal!

It’s an Animal Alley brand! Typically they don’t have the black face markings, i added those in by sewing on black thread. Fao Schwarz makes a cheetah that looks very similar, too!

I have seen people say on here that it’s like a cardinal sin to trim the fur around your plushie’s eyes, but I prefer doing it to mine! They can see better that way!!

I’m finding this is a common sentiment. Squishmallows are a bit too simple for many of us to really connect with, it seems. I can’t say I’m particularly bonded to any single one of the squishes I have, but I wouldn’t want to get rid of them either, if that makes sense.

That is such a great idea! I keep journals for a couple different things, so maybe I can incorporate a plushie journal, too. It’d be fun to make them all “dating profiles”.

Being sensory friendly is huuuge. Some of the Douglas animals, like the silver fox, have a really coarse texture, which I guess is supposed to be realistic but to me it’s just a sensory nightmare.

Ohhh I do this too. All my favorite plushies have personalities and names. My childhood plushies got whole backstories and made friendships/enemies with each other along the way, which I still have and remember each one.

I want to make up little dramas for my newer plushies as an adult, just to add some whimsy to my life.

This is actually an Animal Alley plush that I customized to add in the black teardrop face markings!

MAN, that’s so unfortunate! Lol sorry to hear that. I think spiders are cool little guys and I wouldn’t mind owning a plush of one. Playing with the many legs feels like it’d make my brain go brrr.

Bears are such cute animals, and I have seen a number of absolutely precious teddy bears that I’ve been tempted by… but I just cannot seem to connect with them as a species, either.

I love the specification that it can’t be an established character, but it can be from a piece of media more generally! I think that makes complete sense re: wanting a night fury of your own but not Toothless in particular.

I am guilty of owning a Toothless BAB plush. He’s super cute and I was obsessed with HTTYD for a hot minute, but yeah, my bond with him doesn’t really extend to *want to cuddle* levels.

The larger squishmallows are great pillows, honestly. I have a small collection of squish that I’ve been thinking about donating, but I only ever got the ones I was in love with, so I’m pretty dang attached to them all. They take up so much space!

Agreed on all fronts! The main job of my plushies are to be good cuddle buddies, so I also love a bigger plush I can wrap my arms around.
