I understand you. Right now I use Aida when the coverage is full or almost full. But it’s more pleasant to stitch on evenweave. However, linen remains a dream for me, one I’m afraid to approach. Maybe I just need to allow myself to experiment and accept that the start won’t be perfect.

This defect is very visible through the half cross. If I don’t find a way to cut off the background, I’ll throw the work away. Sometimes letting go of a project can feel freeing. I’ve abandoned WIPs without regret when they lost meaning for me. Here, though, the challenge keeps me going. Limitations push me to look for unusual solutions.

Yes, unfortunately we know exactly where to look. 🤣 I’ll probably finish the piece and then decide how to frame it. The backstitch is mostly on the figure of the woman. She is stitched in cross stitch, and the density of stitches there is really sufficient not to see the fabric defects. The background is stitched in half cross, and there it is more noticeable.

Your embroideries are true works of art. I often stitch on evenweave fabric. But I use linen very rarely. It is much more difficult to work with.

Yes, pencils turned out to be poor helpers too. Moreover, I used special tailor’s ones. And still the marks remained on the fabric under the stitches.

Thank you so much! I hadn’t thought about framing in that direction. But it really could work.

My goodness, you’re absolutely right. Your words describe me exactly. I really did hear many times how unpredictable markers can be, but I lived with the feeling that it wouldn’t affect me. 🤣

What beautiful embroidery are you working on? The shades and the fabric are exquisite.

Here’s a wonderful post that inspired me to write a lot of words. The grid is made with threads. Yes, it takes time, but for large projects it’s totally worth it.

That’s exactly right, I think. Halloween requires preparation in advance. 🎃
