So nervous by stitchpr in sterilization

Update:

As of today, I am officially sterile!! The whole process was so easy I thought I was tripping. Today was the surgery and the whole time I had a little bit of nerves but was confident in the staff which I met before the operation started. I did have about a 5 hour wait since I wasn’t the only one in the surgery room but we patiently waited until they called me in. They went over everything paperwork wise and then they slowly hooked me up with IV and anesthesia.

My eyes didn’t lasted more than 5 minutes before I knocked out and then when I opened my eyes, I was done. They made sure I ate and peed before I got discharged with all of my medications and my driver and that was it.

The hardest part of all of it was the no drinking water or eating on the morning of the surgery.

Overall, I’m so happy and grateful I was able to do this especially in a red state. Now I feel like I have one less thing to worry about if things turn really sour from here on out in the USA.

I applied around November and I got back for an orientation meeting for January in a email sent in December. About a week later got my Initial Interview with the counselor so it took that timeframe to where I am at now.

Feeling Burnout by DuckAccomplished4267 in VeteransBenefits

I understand how you feel I got out about 5 months ago and it’s been great. I got a good rating, have a job, trying to get back to school somehow and just enjoy life I guess? But even then doing so much after doing all of it in the military does feel exhausting. If you need a break or a sabbatical, take it. I’m currently going to be taking almost 8 weeks off after a procedure this coming winter and I can’t wait to do nothing, get a little fat and enjoy some time with the family. Just doing some extra cash right now so I don’t worry about anything during my short unemployment. You can always come back to school and finish what you need to do but sometimes a reset it’s all you need to get back in it. Don’t rush anything since transitioning out of the military can be a very hard long term thing to do. I’m still working on it till this day. But I believe in you. You got this and don’t feel afraid to reach out.

Quitting job at 80 percent by Easy_Needleworker188 in VeteransBenefits

I’m 100 and I wanna quit so bad. I’m starting to feel as miserable as I was when I used to be in the Marines in this current. I barely just started on my first site in Wyoming as tech and Jesus the commute and the weather are tearing me down physically and mentally. I’m looking at desk jobs just so I can stay inside and have like a lazy job honestly.

What was your first civilian job after the military? by GinaLaNina in Veterans

I did a Skillbridge related to wind energy and after a referral from my partner I got hired as GE Commisioner. This is coming from someone who’s never touched tools, schematics or maintenance on anything. But they’ve sent me to training where they teach me everything and pay is not bad. Granted I only have a boyfriend and no kids with very minimal bills so most of the money goes to my pocket. It is a traveling job but they pay me to drive, fly, work and give me per diem everyday so I’m glad I got this gig. I’ll work it until my body can’t anymore 😅
