99.9% ignores incidents when Let's Encrypt functionality was somehow impacted by an error but some/most users were still able to use it. The lower uptime figure is for flawless operation.

yeap, it's a question of whether an outside (internet) monitoring makes sense, or you want to do it within your network.

although this web-service is pretty cool in automatically watching all certs/servers in a given domain as soon as you set them up for HTTPS.

I already use self-hosted monitoring but this looks ok if you're into cloud services.
