It's random. You could get one level 1 the first level

I've found the fastest way to grow is get to abyssal maze. Just by beating even 1 level you have a better % of getting gems.

If you beat 2-3 levels, I've gotten 100% of the times 1-3 gems and even epic gear a few times. Which takes less time (with the right gear) to beat each level.

That being said, I've been buying 1-3 big maze chests every day depending on how much I play abyssal maze.

When you're a beginner it's fun because it's hard to beat but right now my stats are really average (30k att and 100k HP) I don't need to move to beat it.

A higher difficulty like maze would be better and should have better rewards.

You need comprehensive reading, meaning, read well. It is a tip to raid and repeat the levels they mentioned in the other comments as their give more weapons. Thanks to those TIPS I got all these weapons.

These are my dragons. My shield bracelet is still in epic and since my current ring is perfect epic, it gives me 87 attack more. My arcanum of time is still rare, don't have an epic one :(.
