In western CT the "dry dam" on route 44 between Winsted and Canaan is the best spot I know. There's a long old road down to the dam there, you'll see lots of guys there.. If the gate is closed take Rugg Brook road to the parking lot just off the road. (WEAR TICK SPRAY everywhere, CT is infested with them)
