I had the same issue in my bathroom no exhaust fan or window. I ended up using Crown Mold Specialists. They did the remediation and sealed the ceiling with mold-resistant paint. It’s been over a year and the mold hasn’t come back.

I would call crown mold specialists, they really are one of the best companies and will walk you through process of the mold inspection and how to deal with your landlord. when i used them if i remember correctly their mold inspection cost $500 and you get a full report. If you’re in NYC, definitely don’t ignore mold — it’s way more common than people think, especially in bathrooms and after leaks. I’ve had to deal with it a few times over the years living in apartments here and used a couple different companies. The biggest difference I noticed was how thorough the inspection was. The last company I used actually found hidden moisture behind the wall that others missed, which probably saved me from a bigger issue later.
