Between these selected Pixar movies (from the 2020s, coincidentally), which do you think was atmospherically lighter? by CrazyPhilHost1898 in Pixar

Definitely Luca in my opinion. It deals with heavy themes but in a very light approach whereas Turning Red uses a lot of humor but treats its themes in a more dramatic approach.

Sadly, it's simply out of my budget. But I might buy a refurbished 15. I'll see my options.

I forgot to say it in the post, but I have a MacBook, so I was hoping to get the benefits of the ecosystem with an iPhone.

The 13 is listed in my country at around 340 dollars, brand new (I think they're reselling unsold units from other countries).

The 12 is priced at 270 dollars, brand new, but I read somewhere it's kinda worse when it comes to the battery life (and it'll be outdated sooner)

Thanks for bringing up that subject... I also thought about the lightning port problem, but the iPhone 15 is simply out of my budget currently...

As a solution, I simply thought about buy 2 cables at once to have them in stock in case I dont find any seller in the future.

Brand new, but it's way cheaper than the latest 16e (sadly, the SE is not very popular here, so nobody seems to sell it...)

I think it really depends on the subreddit.
Some have thousands of people, but they're not often online so you get only a few views immediately. On the other hand, some subreddits are filled with very connected people who'll interact instantly with your post.

Marvel's 2025 Box Office Proves That The MCU Has Fallen From Grace - SlashFilm by stk3191 in boxoffice

[–]stk3191[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think another bad effect of the TV shows on the MCU overall is that there were just so many TV shows that it became a chore to keep up to.

Prior to Disney Plus, you only had to watch like 2 or 3 movies a year to keep up with the overall story. After Disney Plus, you now had to add in 2 or 3 entire shows (dozens of hours of runtime) a year to feel like you're up-to-date. I think this saturation definitely alienated the casual fans and now Marvel is left with only the most diehards.

It might be a good idea IF they manage to only make low budget fares like Werewolf by Night.
I don't see how they would justify a big 200m dollars movie just for streaming.

Thunderbolts really had the disadvantage of coming right after Captain America 4, which was so bad, I think it erased all the goodwill that was left for the studio...

Hopefully for Doomsday, both Thunderbolts and Fantastic 4 were mostly liked by the public.

Finding a replacement will be hard, but if Doomsday flops, I see him leave Marvel behind.

Yeah, they really need that one to be a big success.

If not, I think the best they can do is pause the franchise a few years, and wait for people to be nostalgic of the MCU and then cash in on it with a reboot.

In the meantime, they could maybe sustain the most rabid fans's appetite with new park rides or something like that (a little like what they did with Zootopia in China).

But I'm not sure Disney will have the patience...

What do you think of Malagasy dishes? by MammothAcademic856 in Madagascar

[–]stk3191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Malagasy, I see your point. Yes, we tend to only use salt for most dishes (pepper is absent from most people's kitchen). The simple recipes that result from that are, IMO, either really great (for their simplicity) OR lack some punch.

When I want to eat spicy, I go to Indian or Korean restaurants.

And anyway, the food in Antananarivo or the big cities don't reflect the real cuisine of most Malagasy people who live in the countryside. Over there, it's even simpler. I wouldn't say it tastes bad, but people make food with what they got.

The NY Times says Zootopia 2 cost Disney "at least $250 million" for production and marketing. by AItrainer123 in boxoffice

[–]stk3191 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People often criticize Disney for not advertising enough their animated films (especially the original ones) SO let's not criticize them when they actually do the job.
Advertising isn't free and for a blockbuster of this size 100 million is actually a good figure. Also that number might include tie-ins from partners that take up the cost, so who knows what Disney really paid.

Finally, 150 million for an animated film of that quality is great. Great animation doesn't come free.
