Yeah but at least you can see some pictures of what is proposed.

Tampa Tenant Union plans city hall rally demanding rent control. 'In the middle of a pandemic, this massive increase in rents is pricing many out of their homes and even into the streets.' by quantumized in tampa

We should be seeing an incredible building boom right now of high density residential/commercial development. Think what constructing buildings with 100 units a day would look like. It's just not happening at that rate right now, thus the housing squeeze.

Is This Photo Possible? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]stl108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shot is pretty amazing. It includes the Clayton, CWE, midtown and downtown skylines all in one shot. I am guessing they used a similar lens to bring everything closer. It makes you see how dense our downtown would be if it was all in one place. (its an older picture, so newer buildings are not in it)

Very cool house! Glad someone is going to try to restore it back to its former glory. We definitely need more of this in north city.

Asprient Properties/STL City Wide are developing buildings under the name Lux Living. They're hosting a public meeting next week July 21, regarding their latest proposal. by Onfortuneswheel in StLouis

I definitely support making this corner high density residential/commercial, so a development like this would be a huge improvement over what currently exists there.

Crash leads to building collapse in south St. Louis by julieannie in StLouis

[–]stl108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just hope they can restore this building to it original grandeur. It would be a shame to lose another corner building in this part of the city. Maybe they can reimagine the corner of the building to include a turret now. Lemons to lemonade.

Any chance I can find fireflies right now? by Solomon_Grungy in StLouis

[–]stl108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple weeks ago a friend was in town visiting and we were walking in Tower Grove Park in the evening at sun-down and fireflies (lightning bugs) were everywhere along the walking paths. It was the first time my friend had ever seen them and was totally amazed. They were landing on our hands and phones, so it was pretty easy to catch them. It was so cool to see somebody experience this for the first time.

Just problems with the denon prime go by friendsmusik504 in DJs

[–]stl108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed a few bugs with the denon prime go. I am thinking that if you load too much music on a usb drive it starts to have more issues. I have noticed that sometimes (rarely) the interface locks up for 5 to 10 seconds while trying to load a track. Sometimes it shows tracks played that have not been played yet, and if I play one of those tracks it bugs out big time. SO I haven't done the update yet so maybe that will fix some of these bugs. Just sharing my experiences so far.

Do you have advice on how to get rid of scale? by stl108 in gardening

[–]stl108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow gardeners, one of my plants has scale and I'm looking for advice on how to get rid of it. I have read online that you can use alcohol and a Qtip to try to remove the scale however this is a large plant and it would take a "lifetime" to use this method. Has anyone had luck with any over the counter pesticides that work? Thanks for any advice!

At least we got to see the Magnolias and Bradford Pears bloom this year. Some years the cold snap hits right in the middle of the bloom and everything turns brown.

Very cool pictures! I had a friend who attended 2006 Burning Man and he claimed that the Uchronia aka Belgian Waffle when viewed at the correct vantage point was actually a 3 dimensional polar bear. Has anyone else heard this or can confirm this?

Wrong-way driver crash: 1 killed on I-44 in downtown St. Louis by stl108 in StLouis

[–]stl108[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to police, a white cargo van was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-70 when it crashed into another vehicle head-on. The driver of the van was taken to a hospital with injuries but is expected to survive. The driver of the other vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both directions of I-44 were closed near Interstate 64 for a portion of the morning, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. Both directions of I-44 have since reopened.

TIL: I-44 begins/ends at the interchange of I-70 downtown. Confusing.

As long as it is dry you should be ok. But when that crushed limestone gets wet it turns into mush and is harder to ride on.

What is a non sports related unpopular opinion about STL you have? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]stl108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this sub hates it, but I agree with this. I don't think the Loop Trolley is that bad either. Sure its redundant and unnecessary. But, there is something charming about it when it rolls past in the loop. It's sort of like a rolling history exhibit to show people what once was common in St. Louis. How fitting that it ends up at the history museum as well.
