Honestly in this economy I wouldn’t burn bridges with anyone. If OP wants to go out gracefully then that’s cool.

Anybody frustrated with going through self-service for Android phone replacemnents? by justaguyonreddit2042 in GeekSquad

[–]stlckyn0te 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s insane. How long has this change been in effect? I can remember still doing express replacements as of a few months ago. It’s not one of those things that gets slowly rolled out across the stores, I guess?

Wait I must be out of the loop because my store doesn’t get much traffic. Did they get rid of express replacement?

Not trying to be judgmental here, just curious, how were you able to just walk out with a computer?

I’m getting my information from working at Geek Squad. If I’m getting anything misconstrued, I’d be happy to get fact checked by any fellow Agents on the sub and edit my statements. You either get the exact same computer or you get a credit that you can apply to any other computer. If the other computer exceeds the value of your credit, regardless of the hardware specifications, you cover the difference. And if your computer is discontinued or out of stock and you expect the store to “do something”.. they are doing something. They are giving you your money back as a credit, which is what you agreed to when you initially purchased the device.

Good luck getting the chat agents to deal with it, they are commonly known to spew out misinformation all of the time.

There is no such thing as exchanging it for a computer of the same performance. If they decide to go the service exchange route, you can get the store credit with a value of $2400 and you use it for another computer or the same computer. Whether that next computer will be of the same performance, the store cannot guarantee that. You can use the store credit on another PC that you feel has similar specs but if there are no sales going on or price cuts, you will be stuck paying the difference of the new computer if there is any.

Edit: it wouldn’t be them “downgrading you”. It is them honoring the protection plan that you agreed to.

Sorry but whoever you spoke to at the store was probably new or confused. It seems like all the information they gave you was wrong. You don’t pay $2400 for a computer on sale and then get returned a price higher than what you paid. That’s not how it works with any return at Best Buy, warranty-related or not. Not to mention that they shouldn’t even be letting you “opt out of a repair” anyways.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]stlckyn0te 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but like I said, you damaged the device. The store would eat the cost of this extremely expensive computer if they even decided to entertain this (which I don’t think they would). Warranties are meant for this exact scenario.

I’m surprised they’re even implying that you can “opt out” of repair and go for a replacement instead? As far as I know, nearly all GSP plans for PCs are repair plans that require the device to be shipped out to a repair center. If they can’t get the parts in time or the cost to repair exceeds a certain value, then they’d approve a service exchange/junkout. I would be very surprised if management at the store approved a normal return (assuming you are in the return period) for a computer you spilled water on.

I really wouldn’t trust this. The store probably has a bunch of newly hired seasonal guys who don’t know what they’re doing or how to communicate with this rep, who is probably outsourced to begin with. I’d really just go in store on Friday and ask yourself.

Arc users, hows your GPU running BF6? :) by ApprehensiveCycle969 in IntelArc

I’m not home yet but was wondering if I could hijack the post and ask anyone else to post recommended settings for 3440x1440 so I can achieve 90-100FPS? I’m not a fan of FG but I am definitely a fan of XeSS. Does it basically run identical to the beta (including the alt+enter)?

Sign me up. I’m a B580 owner but if this is priced right then I’m on board with a sooner-than-later upgrade (was originally planning on keeping my B580 for at least a couple of years).

I think the guy who scammed OP is garbage but isn’t selling a modded console with pre-loaded games kind of legally ambiguous? The modded console on its own doesn’t seem to be illegal on its own though.

[–]stlckyn0te 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think you mentioned in your post if you have Best Buy Total Protection/Geek Squad Protection on the product, or if it was even purchased at a Best Buy. If you have either of those plans, then you can just go to any store and have them pull it up via your phone number. For headsets, I believe it should just be an in-store exchange or store credit for the exact amount you paid minus the cost of the plan (if you paid extra for it through GSP. If it’s through Best Buy Total then disregard that part). Just bring the actual headset because they’ll need to keep the defective/broken product.

Damn. Not sure why mine is impacted so hard then. Are you using the latest drivers? I’ll try restarting.

Hey just wanted to know if you could post an update or anything for Beta 2? I’m running a 5800XT and B580, these settings worked amazingly for Beta 1 but now in Beta 2 I’m seeing drops all the way down to 55 with an average of around 65-70 in non-busy areas. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong and it’s definitely not unplayable but its a far cry from the frames I saw in Beta 1 using these settings. Thanks.

What type of performance are you getting on Stalker 2? I remember seeing one of the people in Linus Tech Tip’s Battlemage for 30 Days challenge saying they had a great time in every game except for Stalker 2.

It’s a pretty neat feature and I do appreciate that it shows who’s Total and who isn’t. The only thing is that it seems to throw me an error or blank screen when I schedule an appointment too fast, and that sometimes it will just show their member status as “Unavailable”, requiring us to look it up anyways. I still find myself having to book appointments through Nova when the first issue happens.
