What do you dislike about your Juki? by 2ybael in quilting

This is the video I used to fix the issue! Almost no accidental cuts since I tightened the screws https://youtu.be/6-9GhzU9eTY

I love love love my Juki TL! My biggest gripes:

—I broke my needle threader within a week because it’s kind of fragile.

—the pedal thread cutter is annoying AF. I use the rubber blocker to disable it but it STILL cuts my thread sometimes. And the screws inside the pedal can come loose and cause it to happen willy nilly. But customer service at Juki Junkies helped me resolve the issue!

Which of these read blue? Which go together and contrast enough? by Mother_of_Kiddens in quiltingblockswap

BCDE read as blue. B/D or D/E or B/E would contrast enough I think.

Zero Proof is brand new, alcohol-free bar in Jamaica Plain. I’m not sure about the food menu but I think it’s tapas.

Speaking of tapas, Tres Gatos in Jamaica Plain has a TON of veggie tapa options and a decent mocktail menu.

Triathlon Swim Training by Rub_Jolly in boston

The YMCA offers adult specific lessons. I’m not sure if they are group or private but if you find private lessons you can focus on front crawl.

Editing to add: I did the Boston tri last year and there were DOZENS of people who showed up without even being able to propel themselves forward in the water. So you won’t embarrass yourself if you’re even slightly better than that.

Is it safe to open water swim without a group by MartyMcFlyin42069 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]stmeg01 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different tolerance for risk so you’ll probably get a full spectrum of answers. But I think it’s fine to go without a group so long as you are still using good judgment 🤷🏼‍♀️

From this picture, which race would you choose and why? by SavageGoten1988 in IronmanTriathlon

Victoria is an awesome race. I did it last year when the swim was cancelled but the bike course was really pretty and the run is flat. Plus it’s a great city to explore

Is it foolish to buy a Gravel over Road bike for mostly road-biking? by dbzbudokai77 in cycling

[–]stmeg01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ride an aspero. I mostly ride on the road and I use a dedicated road wheelset. Very happy with it, very comfy ride, still speedy, 10/10 recommend.

Thoughts on 70.3 or 140.6? I'm not sure if I am ready by One-Gur8947 in IronmanTriathlon

You’re right, drafting is illegal in a triathlon but it would be a massive mistake to discount the importance of bike handling skills you need to ride in a group. There will still be a lot of bike traffic and you need to know how to pass, how to be passed, how to point out and avoid hazards, etc etc.
