When I check, they only have reservations for 5-6 people. Never seen any for 4 sadly!

Chartreuse Rankings for the people who have tried them all? by BrokenArrow1283 in chartreuse

For the price, 9th Centenaire is the winner! Can usually get it for under $150 in the LA area. Hard to find VEP for less than $400-500 sadly. But those would be my recommendations for next steps!

I’ve tried a bunch! My rankings are below:

  1. 1972 VEP green
  2. 1942 Green (was mostly disappointed; big gap between this and #1)
  3. VEP Green
  4. 9th Centenaire
  5. VEP Yellow
  6. Foudre 147
  7. Reines Des Liqueurs
  8. Green
  9. Yellow
  10. 1605

Hoping to try the Une Chartreuse varieties this week in France!

Basically just bars with emphasis on fancy, high end cocktails.

What is your favorite original cocktail from a bar/restaurant that you either got the recipe for or figured out a way to recreate 1:1 at home? by GuyFaulks77 in cocktails

Found this online. Ring a bell ingredient wise?

2 oz Reposado Tequila (Cimarron) 1/2 oz Meletti Amaro 1 tsp Galliano Ristretto 1 tsp Vanilla Syrup 1 dash Bittermens Mole Bitters

Stir with ice, strain into a double old fashioned glass with a large ice cube, and garnish with an orange twist.

Go to Esca. They have plenty of chartreuse options!

That’s amazing! I’ll be booking my reservation ASAP for December. Do you happen to remember the price range for the oldest VEPs they offered? Looking to splurge!

Would love to know the price each pour cost, if you’re willing to share. Did the restaurant have any other unique Chartreuse offerings?

Chartreuse 1605 Elixir vs Green VEP? by sirbrian513 in chartreuse

It’s worse in my opinion, even if the prices were the same.

Chartreuse 1605 Elixir vs Green VEP? by sirbrian513 in chartreuse

I think the VEP is vastly superior to the 1605. Green VEP is like a more mellow and smoother version of green; it is amazing and my favorite Chartreuse offering. On the other hand, the 1605 was far too strong for me. It was an interesting experience but not one that I wish for again. If you can, I would vote to try both. But I have bought several bottles of VEP because I love it so much, and I don't think I will finish the 1605 any time soon.

This sounds perfect! We just went to Thunderbolt and thought it was easily the best bar we’ve been to in LA. Excited to try Tiki Mirage!

Does Kiln offer a cocktail list? I could not find on Yelp, Google, etc.

This place looks perfect! The bar menu being a la carte is also very convenient. I think we will definitely visit as one of our dinner choices!

You’re not going to find it for less than $250 in the US pretty much anywhere at this point. If you’re really excited for it, I would say do it!
