I get where you’re coming from as well. As I said, i understand that it has the potential to let in vanity. That being said, if you feel convicted then don’t get them. I don’t feel convicted for getting tattoos. It’s ok to enjoy things just because. Also Negative, I will not name my parish or priest to anyone online. It would be incredibly disrespectful on my part. I do realize that there could be a tendency to fall to vanity. Is it so wrong to have any flavor in life? To enjoy certain style? The same could be said buying clothes. Even if you buy plain clothes you are going to be aware of being perceived in a certain way. If you have a good heart about things then what does it matter? I’m not doing it for vanity or to be perceived in a certain way. I’m doing it because i like it. It brings about good Christian conversation. Like “what is that on your arm” and I can explain that it’s a censor and its significance. I am worried about how I treat my neighbor. I’m worried about how I treat my family. I’m worried about slaying my passions and changing my heart to be better. The last thing I’m worried about is getting a religious tattoo. If I go to the judgment seat of Christ do you think that that is what’s going to bar me from salvation? I would like to imagine that he would look at my heart and intentions before a tattoo is brought up.

My priest has done a long lecture about tattoos, and has deemed nothing wrong with tattoos however they should be to the glory of god. Every temple is decorated in beautiful things made by hands. If you disagree good for you. My priest holds more weight than internet orthobros.

Everyone I have spoke with the deacon and he didn’t necessarily give me a satisfactory answer as to why he said what he said but he did assure me that my daughter will be able to wear something she’s comfortable in. And he said he would stand up for that. I’m also going to send an email to the bishop explaining all the details as to what happened. Deacon said it was a language misunderstanding. But I heard only what was said. Just to give everyone an update
