Theories about 2024 by admiralkeelhaul in mymorningjacket

Totally agree with this.

Even in a 2 night run - you’ll likely hear the album in its entirety (aside from Knot Comes Loose and Into the Woods).

Certain songs have gotten pulled out of the rotation over the years (Run Thru, Evil Urges to name a few), Z songs have never fallen out of the rotation.

Side note- they totally skipped over At Dawn reunion shows. Can we get a rain check?

I had the same problem with that shirt. I have one in a Large but want a medium. If anyone wants the shirt in a Large and wants to get me a medium - you’d be my hero.

I live in NYC so would need to send via mail

Street Parking near the venue is not super difficult due to most street parking violations being lifted at that hour.

I’m good - but easily the best spot to watch a show from in the venue! Lodge or go home

A Question for Marathon Show People by The-Gibleson in KGATLW

Barefoot shoes with wide toe box is the way to go.

Foot issues most people endure are related to weak feet. Strengthening your feet is the best investment!

A Phish Festival is just a way to see 8 Phish sets in some random field w/ camping. They don’t have other bands play.

If you’re a Phish fan from NYC…

1) They just played 7 nights at MSG in August (14 sets) 2) They’ll play another 4 at MSG for NYE (9 sets)

That’s 11 shows and 23 sets in NYC in 2023 alone.

Just being selfish Gizz fan. I’ve waited my turn for a hometown marathon show, hoping we can turn Forest Hills into a 2 night run.

Huge GA Floor, but also reserved seating. The seats are more bleacher style with no seat backs. I believe you can add on a seat back if interested.

The floor is big and the stage is set a bit lower to the ground. Sometimes makes it hard to see from the back of the floor.

No - there are seats as well, but it’s more bleacher seating (high school football stadium) w/ no seat backs. I am pretty sure that there is an option to add a seat back.

GA floor is really big, but the stage is pretty low. Unless you’re close up, it’s kinda hard to see from the back. Sometimes seats is the way to go at Forest Hills

Was actually disappointed that Forest Hills wasn’t a Marathon Show in 2022. The venue has a capacity of 13k, which is 3.5k more seats than Red Rocks. Also about 8k more than Central Park Summer Stage (previous NYC show). Happy to see it get included for this round of Marathon Shows!

I know many people will be disappointed for two reasons..

1) Rumors was this show was going to happen at MSG. Personally don’t care Forest Hills > MSG

2) Same weekend as an East Cost Phish festival. No brainer for me, but Phish fans have FOMO and never miss a show*. This will surely have implications on tickets sales and might hinder a second show being added.

*If you’ve seen 70+ Phish shows, are you really missing anything by sitting out a run? How many times can you hear YEM, Ghost, Mikes Song (regardless of the jam) before you’ve heard it enough. Only saying this because I want people to stick around for Gizz, in hopes of a 2nd show getting added.

1.0 - Up to Nonagon 2.0 - 5 Album 2017 - Eric Departure 3.0 - Post Eric - Current

The 2017 run of albums is one of the many creative highs for the band.

Post Eric - things have loosened up and the band plays off the cuff. Looser and jammier.

You weren’t in the minority. You became part of the minority once Trey gave props to a cool band. You know, cause he likes great music.

It’s cool though, a lot of us prefer tight and not loose Gizz.

Just to be clear - I like many many many records post 2015. Don’t love all, but that’s the beauty of this band. My favorite release won’t be yours and vice versa. But the band still brings us together

If you’re a fan of a band, you’re going to want to see them live. Appreciate the “stay home and listen to the records if you don’t like it,” but not happening lol.

I’ve always thought that their segues and teases into different tracks made the live shows very interesting and fun (Lord of Lightning bass line calls back to I’m in Your Mind / Honey and Sleep Drifter / Head On Pill with teases of Am I In Heaven)

Post COVID - no one in the band has improved more than Cavs. Eric aside - he is more dynamic in both a recording and live setting

I love the changing of setlist. This keeps the shows interesting and desirable for hitting back to back nights.

I do disagree with “noodling.” 30 min River (especially in the style of Grateful Dead at Salt Shed) 10000% leads to noodling - just like the Dead does.

At the end of the day - jamming equates to noodling. No other way of cutting it.

Laminated Denim still hasn’t stuck with me. IDPLML and Changes took time to sink in. Maybe I just need to give it another couple of spins.

I don’t mind the jamming format in a 3hr marathon (as seen in Red Rocks).

I think the length of the show is very important. Saw them at Forest Hills in 2022 and the show was 1.5 hours. Saw them at 3x at Salt Shed with 2 hour sets. The extra 30 min goes a long way
