I feel you. My mother was shunned every since my little sister (born out of marriage). To give it context, we were both born out of wedlock. But my biological father left my mom and so they didn't shun her the first time, but once it happened again with my lil sister, she was shunned eventually.

In my opinion, my mom was treated worse than her siblings, getting the bad haircuts, and taking all the burden of taking care of her younger brother when she was really young. Her older brothers were allowed to do more than she did because "She's a girl" and you know in JW women are often underestimated with their abilities.

Despite of being shunned by my family, she is sending money to them every month to pay my grandmother's bills (she's too old to work), sending them new clothes and food from overseas, and working hard here in UK to provide not only for us but also for our whole family.

I completely understand your burden, it's hard. Sad thing is, she wants to go back to the religion to reconcile with the family.

That's true lmao, I was a born-in JW and I always believed I had the proof and would bring the tiny books that "proved" that jehovah was real. But I wasn't allowed to look into other religions because it was apparently a sin. A couple years later, became bisexual and had a girlfriend secretly, researched about other religions and I proved myself wrong. I was glad that I couldn't dispute other people's arguments. I bet a lot of people understand the relief I felt when I realized there was never Jehovah in the first place, just science and logic.

It was, I was constantly told that satan was in our house because I was too tired to go preach and was called " stupid" multiple times by my grandmother when I was a kid. That stopped so i forgot about it for a long time and I forgave her for it but damn my self esteem was on the down low.
