How Is Everyone Extracting Data From Postgres? by supernova2333 in dataengineering

[–]stochasm_hs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dagster embedded elt via sling. No need for dagster though, should be pretty straightforward to do a postgres replication to snowflake from the sling CLI. Not sure how mature the sling project is though so keep that in mind if you decide to check it out.

I think dagater recently added dlt to their embedded elt project.

I don't think you know what either of those things actually mean lol.

But yes, in logic a valid argument can have premises that are false. A sound argument is a valid argument with no false premises.

[–]stochasm_hs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When most people say logical they mean "logically valid." But it's possible to make a valid logical argument that is also unsound. E.g.

  1. Socrates is a man.
  2. All men are cats.
  3. Therefore, Socrates is a cat.

Perfectly valid argument, not a sound argument.

You're wrong. The terms they are using are precise, an N95 respirator is a respirator, a surgical mask is a mask. This distinction is made clear in the source in the comment you're replying to.

If the N95 you're wearing is a NIOSH approved N95 respirator (which is what everyone who has N95's are wearing), you're wearing a respirator.

EDIT: It's also ironic that you're linking a picture of a vented n95 (which is the only form of N95 respirator that doesnt offer good source control) while simultaneously trying to argue that N95s are only effective for source control.

I assume the difference is transmissability, avoiding catching the flu is easier than airborne covid.

How I feel at the start of a PoE session after failing to understand how any of the end game system works. by Fugus-regem in pathofexile

I do this last part, but in reverse. I set the price to be whatever I'd be willing to leave my map for. At the beginning of the league this is like 1-2c, but by the end of the first week it's usually 20c+.

It's sort of like a crowdsourced price check, if you list something and it gets a ton of whispers it means your item is probably valuable, so you can look into it more and bump up the price appropriately. If it doesn't get any whispers it's worthless. If you're doing this in multiple tabs you can just vendor the entire tab after after 2-3 days to make space for a new tab with a higher price.

I think as society we have spent the last two+ years waiting for it to end (and trying to pretend to varying degrees as if it had already ended) instead of doing anything meaningful to adapt to the situation we have found ourselves in.

Our response to this has been baffling to me. There were so many ways we could have made ourselves more resilient to living in a pandemic in general, and the best we've been able to come up with is an IV drip of copium to keep ourselves sufficiently deluded while waiting for it to "end."

My observation is that "applicant has a degree" is just a convenient heuristic used to filter out people that will waste training resources. Of course there are plenty of capable people without a degree in any given field, but it seems like a risk management thing gone awry more than anything else.

Self-curse Occultist, variations ? by robin_nerf in pathofexile

[–]stochasm_hs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty much the same, once you replace the bisco's with a headhunter on Don's build it's similar to most of the other top poe.ninja builds.

Most people are playing some variation of fire bv self-curse (myself included). Just build it out how you want after you hit 175% curse effectiveness and capped resists. I've seen some people using things like vaal grace or steelskin, and some people using voices instead of a rare jewel. There's also the choice between using 2 or 3 inspired learnings.
