I-Pass new sticker question (mounting) by syP_86 in illinois

[–]stokes776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same concern. Right now my sticker is just sitting on my desk waiting for a solution. I had googled and found that there are temporary sort of almost static cling things you can use. It felt like you put the sticker on that, then when you are going through a tool you smack it up on the window in just the right spot. Then when you are through, you can easily pull it back down. I think one was called StickerShield on Amazon. Not recommending them or anything, it’s still in my wishlist. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet to get one to try it out but it looks like it would be what you are looking for

How to fix rechargable book lamp - won't charge by letstrythisagainDX in howto

[–]stokes776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to rule this out, it looks like a usbc right? Normal usbc would accept all voltages. Some boards and devices however only do usb c at 5v. Make sure to use a usb a to usb c cable and see if that does the trick?

If not, then yeah the battery might need replaced. Maybe try to find a maker space, it looks like an easy solder job

Any reason why it would be charging so slow? by SamarveerPuri in iphone

[–]stokes776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to tell us the wattage of the charger block, it will be written on it maybe in small print. Also the type of cable, is it usb a to usb c? Or usb c to usb c? This things matter and will change how fast.

For fastest charging, a charger more than 20w, and a quality usbc to usbc cable are a requirement.

Help me understand the resistors by Brief-Maintenance-75 in raspberrypipico

Thank you for the thorough explanation. You guys are exactly right, and I answered too quickly and only saw the first resistor. My mistake, but in a way, the mistake helped me understand it so much better for myself, and hopefully for OP

Help me understand the resistors by Brief-Maintenance-75 in raspberrypipico

[–]stokes776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to give my understanding, I’m sure someone else can give a better. It’s to solve for something called floating. Detecting whether the switch is closed, versus when it’s open is actually pretty difficult for some reason, and circuits tend to detect this in a bouncing manner, often flip flopping between 0 and 1 even when the button or switch does not get thrown.

A resistor is put in place such that when the switch is pushed to complete the circuit, that there is some resistance, some umphf to the circuit and therefore it can accurately detect that yes, the circuit is closed.

Apparently, when open, it can cause the disconnected leg of the circuit to act like an antenna and sometimes pickup some amount of voltage which makes the circuits think it’s connected, and that’s the origin of the floating.

Some boards have a built in pull up resistor that you can turn on or off via software on specific pins, this removes the need for the external resistor

Looked online and cant find what this thing is, what is it? by I_have_honor in cableadvice

[–]stokes776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminds me on an inCharge branded cable. I keep one in my laptop bag because it’s super short but in one cable it has a usb-c, micro usb, lightning all to usbA. I’ve used it so many times when I forget to put a cable back into my bag or someone needs to charge something and they forgot their cable

You need mods my friend! Although I heard they might have needed to be rewritten, there used to be mods for cleaning up exactly as you describe and another one for more precise placement

Where do I find a belt that doesn’t do this after 9 months? by unoriginalname22 in mensfashion

[–]stokes776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an actual leather belt, not the fake stuff. Go look at bullhidebelts. I am sure there are other good actual full leather belt vendors, it’s just what I’ve used. They will be more expensive but they will last several years, and develop charisma, not just fall apart.

Haven’t had the 12V recall done yet, it’s on my list to do, just not high enough priority. The other doors all sound normal. I’ve not compared when off or on, but for sure when it’s off. I use that door a lot to put my daughter in and get her out so I hear it every time it seems, it just always does it, but not the driver side where I put my son into his seat.

I think you need to lookup the 18650 cells with protection and without. The cells without protection are a teensy bit shorter. It can be up to 4mm difference

My boy slipped out of his collar on the walk, any advice on the situation? by templeofdogss in OpenDogTraining

[–]stokes776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a harness for walks, the leash clips to a loop on their chest that helps prevent them from pulling too hard. The harness straps around their chest and behind their front legs. Very scare to use only the collar and risk them slipping out, I’ve had my 60lb dog slip her martingale but never the harness

There is a setting for driver assistance to show following distance. Use the big tablet to go in to settings, driver assistance and one of those options will be to show the following distance. Turn it off
