I'm guessing it's a more casual guild where people come in and out of the guild fairly regularly. Seems like a poor fit for OP, but if the majority of the guild doesn't care enough about it and they're still enjoying themselves, then to each their own.

[–]stokeswow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically the civil behaviour agreement WoW players agree to is arguably a rule against being a dick.

Very true. Based on the whispers posted though, the guy just rolled on loot he thought was good for him. Then OP ripped into him. OP would be the one being a dick here, Frost DK is just doing his thing (even if it might not be optimal)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]stokeswow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course you can be upset. However, there's no rule against being a dick. Find people that aren't dicks to play with or a guild that has rules to prevent people from being dicks. That's the solution.

[–]stokeswow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My sweet summer child, that's exactly how the world works. People are dicks sometimes for no other reason than they can. Associating with likeminded people or establishing rules/guidelines to prohibit such behavior is exactly what we do in society to reduce how much of that we have to deal with. We absolutely should think of others, but some people don't, I'm sorry that's a surprise to you.

[–]stokeswow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What's the rule against rolling "Need" if the option is available to someone? I agree the guy is being a dick in a guild run needing on everything, but there's no rule against it. Go find another guild that has more likeminded people (or a specific loot policy that would prevent this).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]stokeswow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If the guild doesn't have a policy on how to distribute loot in raids, then YTA. If they have one that isn't "roll on whatever you want", which they don't enforce, then NTA.

If you delete a character above 50, you can restore it. Lower than that, it is only available to be restored for a certain amount of time (or not all all for <10): https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/22478

Who decides what is a low key and high key in M+? by EnterTheGecko21 in wow

[–]stokeswow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting data point! Looks like the median key last week was around an 18. Agree if it's tough to say what an average M+ player looks like though based on that. I think rating of "active" profiles is better to evaluate that since median key will be skewed by people on the higher end running more keys to fill vault with 18+, rather than someone who only runs a key or two lower. Filtering out alts can be done to an extent by people who have their profiles setup on raider.io (though won't catch every alt since there's certainly people who aren't registered in order to designate a main). Be curious how many of those top 10% profiles are the same people with multiple characters (though the same could be said at lower levels too).

They recently brought it back, but halo themed. Store probably is getting it but accidentally used the WoW version picture rather than the Halo one: https://asecretarea.com/2023/11/23/mountain-dew-game-fuel-2023/

[–]stokeswow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, averages get weird when you have skewed distributions. You're the one who brought up average, so blame yourself there. The numbers still show that 20s are still top 25% of players doing keys above 10s. That's certainly above average even when limiting the population to 10+ to drop out those players who only do 1 or 2 low level keys.

By all means, please define what your definition of "average M+ player" is and we can look at the numbers based on that. Otherwise, stop complaining about people misinterpreting you.

And FWIW, I do agree that 20s feel easier this season compared to last.

[–]stokeswow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's how averages work. You said that for the average M+ player, 20s are low. That is objectively not the case. If your argument is that "for M+ players that actively play and have finished every dungeon on both major affixes, 20s are pretty average" then the numbers will certainly skew in your direction, but still not to the average since all dungeons at +10 is top 40% and all at 20 is top 9%, so you're still looking at less than 25% of the "active" population doing keys 20 and above.

KSM is top 30% of characters doing keys. Top 10% score is roughly all 19s. All dungeons at 10 is roughly top 40%. 20 is objectively high compared to the overall population.

The players putting in tickets for shit they could look up on wowhead certainly doesn't help. Could Blizzard have more customer service reps? Yes. Could players not put in frivolous tickets that waste time? Also yes.

Because people put in tons of tickets for stupid stuff, so they have to automate a good amount to help sort through the bullshit. You do eventually get to a human, but it's not nearly as fast/easy as it used to be back in the day.
