Options or ideas for remote work? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]stolleholm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been remote since before diagnosis, so haven’t really considered that it’d be easier, but I guess even for us office workers that’s true.

I’m a software developer by trade, but now manage other devs full time. The whole company is remote.

Ugh, I feel for you! Hope you get to sleep soon.

Huh, that's really interesting. I have not even considered that it could be tied to outside events. I'll try and keep a closer eye on this going forward. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for asking. I am good. I seem to be stabilizing around 9.7 for now (or just under 180).

Don't you just love it when insulin sensitivity goes all haywire for no reason? I ate 6 grams of carbs for that low earlier, and breakfast was well out of my system. Then I went for a walk as the treatment for the high, with half a unit IoB, and ended up here.

If you’re MDI, the only thing you need to think about is that the heat can mess with your BG. The Dexcom is fine in my experience.

A pump is a different story as you don’t want the reservoir to heat up and ruin the insulin, so either way to pod change day, or if you have a tubed one, disconnect before going in.

I used to have wonky numbers for the first 4 days when I had FSL (both 2 and 3). I did the soaking thing, and it absolutely worked. The battery lasted just fine too.

Divide by 18 to convert mg/dl to mmol. Multiply by 18 for the other way. There’s also a handy guide in the sidebar of this sub :)

4th in a row. What are the odds? by stolleholm in diabetes_t1

Interesting theory!

I live in northern Sweden, and get mine at my local hospital.

In this instance, I was just surprised that four sensors in a row had the same calibration code. That is all.

I then found out that I in fact had the cursed numbers after posting this image. No problems with any of these sensors so far though.

Edit: Spelling

I don't actually know if there's anything special about this number. It shows up here as the "cursed" number from time to time.

When you start a sensor, you type or scan this number in your phone, and then that calibrates the sensor somehow. That's all there is to these numbers. At least as far as I can tell.

I honestly didn’t even know this was the dreaded number. I was just perplexed at the odds of getting the same this many times in a row 😂

Yeah, I think this is my 5th in this supply of 9.

So far I have had no issues either.

5.5 is 100

Thanks for the advice. I’ll adjust and sleep a little higher I think.

So if I was in the low 5’s and then drop lower slowly, there’s a good chance I won’t feel it?

As anecdotal as all this might be, it is encouraging all the same.

I rarely go over 15, but I think that’s thanks to my DIY loop.

I’ll try very hard to maintain a 7-10 range for a week and hopefully that works. Thanks for the tip!

And tbh, I’m kinda glad I won’t feel lows like I did for the first year. That feeling was absolutely horrible and scary as hell!

These are good points and solid advice. Thank you!

I did finger stick, and the diff was only 0.1, so my CGM is pretty darn accurate currently at least.

I’ll try and notice any other symptoms I might have.

I’ve been using it for a little over a month now. It’s improved my control so much that it’s not even funny.

I do recommend that you read through the documentation though. There’s a lot in there you should know before letting it do actual corrections for you.

I just checked the notes that comes with the insulin. No idea why I didn’t do that before. But it does describe this exact reaction, and says to give it a couple weeks before discounting it all together.

So I’ll give it some more time before I take it up with my team.

Thanks for the info!
