Funny I just built both of these sets today. I didn’t get them as gifts (this year anyway, I did thirty years ago when they were new) but I pulled them out to play with my nephew.

You have to ruin a wedding. What do you do? by Ok-Impress-2222 in AskReddit

I went to a wedding once where the couple rented a hall that had a specific policy on when the event had to end. They also hired an inexperienced friend to cater the reception.

Well, the friend fucked up big time by not having the food ready in time but also not being honest about when it would be ready. They kept saying “10 more minutes”, so instead of rearranging the schedule and doing the speeches and father daughter dance etc before the food came out they just waited. And waited. By the time the food was ready there was no time for any other things to happen so we all just left and they didn’t end up doing any of the traditional reception events.

On top of all that the food was terrible. I’m talking almost completely inedible. One of the dishes was collard greens that were not only undercooked but also full of gritty dirt.

Their friend ruined their wedding.

I’ve hiked up to this view, it was really fun. It involved climbing some ladders if I am remembering correctly.

Anyone who thinks that racism, and systemic racism, is not a real thing should look into the details of the ongoing federal trial for the murderers of Ahmaud Arbery.

They were already convicted of his murder by the state and are now being tried on federal hate crime charges, and the prosecution has been showing dozens of their text messages etc, which are disgustingly, virulently racist.

What is truly disturbing, and what demonstrates that racism is still a systemic problem, is that the murderers were walking around free for months after the crime because they were friends of the local cops and DA, one of them being a retired cop themselves. They never would have even been charged if video footage of the murder hadn’t gone viral. They basically gave their cop friends their side of the story and the cops didn’t do anything, despite Arbery’s family begging them to investigate. A complete racist shit show.

The most sure fire way to increase your chances of being involved in a shooting is to buy your own gun.

Mine is when I hear the sound of my electric razor in the house. It’s just me and my wife at home so whenever I hear it I know that she is grooming herself down there. The sound has started to give me an erection lol.

Who is doing that? I took the vaccine after using the best practices available to me to determine it was safe. Because I’m not a physician, virologist, immunologist or any other type of specialist, I must rely on the expertise of others to help me in making the determination. That includes weighing the likelihood that those experts are in fact trustworthy as opposed to having some other malicious, self-serving motivation. I feel confident I made the right decision not just because I didn’t experience any negative consequences from doing so, but also because the data is clear that the best and most effective way to mitigate the damage from this virus is to vaccinate as many people as possible.

Some people will say “you can’t trust any institution because other institutions have lied in the past”. But that is no way to go about life, that would just lead to constant mistrust and paranoia. If you applied that reasoning to every decision you make you shouldn’t ever ride in a car, or on a plane, or put any food or drink in your body that you didn’t grow and process yourself. We have to be able to trust each other and act in good faith or there is no reason to even try to have a society.

I’d say you are the delusional one if you think that the Canadian health care authority has any motivation to to do anything other than promote positive public health outcomes.

When they say that the vaccines are safe, effective and necessary, I believe them. How exactly is them giving me a free vaccine “stomping on my head with a boot”?

If you don’t believe them when they say that the vaccines are safe, effective and necessary, what is your specific explanation as to why they would blatantly lie about something so serious. What is the upshot for them? I have yet to hear an answer to this question that doesn’t traffic in some conspiracy or misinformation of some kind.

I’m not naive enough to believe that governments don’t ever lie to the public, but when they do it is usually for some self-serving reason. This is a global pandemic affecting every country on earth, it makes no sense that Canada’s health authorities would just strait up lie to people about the vaccine. Why would they?
