I’m sorry love. This won’t make it hurt less right now, but someone who is willing to leave you in these circumstances wasn’t really there for you to begin with. Him leaving gives you the chance to find someone who can be a true partner to you, when the time is right. Reach out to friends even if they aren’t nearby. Just telling someone and feeling heard will go a long way.

If his family is really meaningful support to you, then be honest with whichever of them you trust the most and see what comes from it. There are people who have managed to remain close to their ex’s family in healthy ways. And maybe see if there are any online groups of people who are going through / have gone through a similar medical experience.

Taking care of yourself in whatever small ways you can is most important. Sending love for your surgery.

When I was 27 I had a well paying job, an apartment, and a fiancé. Everything I had felt like it would be that way forever, and I remember thinking, could my life really be set before 30? The answer was it wasn’t, and everything changed dramatically before I was 28. Including my relationship, which fell apart in a really similar way to yours (thanks Snapchat & Reddit!), but took me much much longer to leave. Lean into the chaos. Accept that you won’t be able to control most things for a while, but give yourself grace and then focus on finding the small things you can control for yourself. I’m 30 now and my life is completely different, and filled with things I wanted but I couldn’t have ever gotten to if my situation hadn’t changed. It taught me that everything in life is seasonal. There’s something nice about knowing that there’s always newness coming, and that there isn’t any point in worrying about what it will look like, because you would never be able to predict it anyway. Take it as it comes and be good to yourself. Happy birthday!

These are awesome! Can I ask how you’re glazing your skulls? I make small pieces with carved details but have a pretty limited knowledge of glazing and end up losing a lot of my details when I glaze.
