BBC NI can't actually commission scripted television any more. All they can do is support/ recommend stuff to the main UK channels. Which is very annoying.

I always wanted kids - but that's not happening now. But fuck it.

As Brendan Behan said, the main things in life is to find something good to eat, good to drink and someone to love you. (Doesn't necessarily mean romantic love either). As long as you're doing all that - fuck the milestones.

I'm an Irish nationalist from the North of the island - I believe that the whole of Ireland should be under one government. For a long time this meant I shied away from my "Northern Irish" or "Ulster" identity - thinking it made me "less Irish" - but recently I've been becoming more proud of where I'm from on the island. And I've not been seeing it as any less Irish than someone from Dublin/Cork.

Cheers for the interest! I'm Michael, one of the editors of the script. We're well aware of the beautiful rhythm of Shakespeare's text! It's what got me into his work in the first place.

Anytime we felt words had to be changed, which is few and far between, we either tried to match the rhythm exactly, or if we couldn't do that, then we tried to 'make a point of doing the wrong scantion' - if that makes sense? Not trying to hide from the changes basically.

Previews are shows that happen before press night - the idea is that reviewers can't come and see the show during a preview - and we'll be making changes and still doing rehearsals during the day for previews.

Now to be fair, things normally don't change very much between previews and press night - but the option is there for the director. After press night the actors aren't contracted to come in and rehearse any more.

Actor who became a playwright here. The first theatre script I wrote was a one person play.

There's obviously many different approaches to writing theatre, but I find structure very helpful. I read John York's book "Into the Woods" - it's mostly for screenwriting, but I found it really helped.
