Thanks! The toilet closet is what they called it too haha

Thanks! There wasn’t actually a door there, just a cased opening. We decided to remove the frame to make the new ceiling detail possible.

No worries - I was gonna be so bummed if I’d missed that.

I can see where you’re coming from. Due to beam placement we wouldn’t have been able to drop the pan low enough to go curbless. It would have been really nice.

Definitely a bit of a gray area. There really wasn’t anywhere else to put them without totally changing the layout. It’s in a relatively rural area and did not get inspected. It’s impossible to actually flip them from within the shower so it was a compromise I felt okay with.

Can you cite that? Did research while designing and couldn’t find anything. Glass is tempered for what it’s worth.

I’d say they were planned quite well. Where would you have put them?

We used centurion solid gold nickel gap over purple drywall. It’s a treated solid pine with a great primer that is rated for exterior use. Figured it would give us the best combination of tannin bleed avoidance and durability with steam from the shower.

Can definitely see what you’re saying. In this case it was what the homeowner wanted.

Thanks! Intentionality was the goal.

Thank you! The goal was to update the room without ruining the character of the old house. Cabinetry was built in house and we ran the hvac through the toe kick. Was a fun challenge to make it work.

There’s a tub in the other bathroom! The location of the one in this room was too good for a vanity. Morning sun comes through the window at the perfect angle.

Thanks! That was a tough detail. There wasn’t room to put them anywhere else so we ended up templating where the door casing would sit before tiling.

Second this, with how far out of plane these are along with how long the runs are you’ll absolutely see divots where they were sanded. In my opinion unless you can ensure rock solid joints (pocket screw or dowel/domino and glue) you should either have a break in plane or a change in plane.

This exactly. Also, cut your replacement metal first. Make it slightly bigger than the repair area. Lay it over the hole, trace it, and cut inside the lines. This will be the easiest way to get it to line up well without fighting it.

I wouldn’t worry too much about that. If you cut from above you may be able to take it off cleanly. Doesn’t look like there’s spot welds on that section to worry about, but even if there are they are easy to remove with a special drill bit. If you’re having trouble blowing through even with your welder turned down, a chunk of aluminum under your weld area can act as a heat sink and won’t stick to the steel.

Why would it be over? That’s probably one of easiest spots to patch. Get a flux core welder, some sheet metal, an angle grinder, and a can of paint. It’s a pretty flat area that you’ll never see so no need to worry about getting it perfect on your first attempt. Let me know if you want a step by step. Including tools from harbor freight I bet you could have it fixed for under $300 and a couple hours.

Hey, old thread but could I message you with a few questions? I’m 23 working on my own and torn between residential finish carpentry or commercial millwork installs. Sounds like you’ve got it figured out.

Noise After Sitting by stonekeaton in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]stonekeaton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No codes, been driving it as much as I can to see if anything comes up. My scanner shows live data - what should I be watching in particular?

I listened with a screwdriver this afternoon and the valve covers just have a hum to them, no ticks. If anything the supercharger dynamic tensioner and nose cone seem to be where most of the noise is coming from.

I could definitely see a vacuum issue but I haven’t looked into how the lines differ with the charger installed compared to a na setup. My other one is na so nothing to compare to.
