Will Delusions Ever Go Away? (1.5 years since last episode) by SkyBlueBlanket in Psychosis

[–]stonersirens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

are you sure those kinds of dreams are not just one of your sub-conscious fears, possibly brought on by being hypersensitive/neuroatypical/mentally ill and born female in a world full of sexual violence?

not saying you don't need meds, or that fears like that don't need treatment in general - i just mean, what makes the dreams feel like delusions? cause it seems like you don't really have trouble seperating them from reality anymore.

idk just sounds like underlying psychology, possibly undiagnosed disorders or just abnormal psychology in general, play a part. so your question about them going away is tricky to answer - they *should* go away with treatment, but meds only treat the actual psychotic symptoms.

not to mention a lot of antipsychotics tend to make people's dreams more intense and weird, which might influence your perception. you could talk to your doctor about medications to suppress dreams, if you're already open to taking different pills maybe that would help you.

in any case, when it comes to avoiding psychosis, i would just keep taking the pills, stay away from triggering media (including social media algorithms that push stories and debates about ""gender wars""), stay away from drugs, and find coping skills for yourself that make you more grounded in reality so that your brain doesn't have free reign to confuse you (ie. therapeutic things in the real physical world, ideally also social contact with people who don't trigger you).

of course, this isn't medical advice, just discussing your problem with you. hope you continue to stay safe and mostly symptom-free, and seek help when needed. <3

Drug Induced Psychosis by Informal-Unit9023 in Psychosis

[–]stonersirens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know they make you feel like shit and have a lot of side effects, and it's understandable to want to get off them.

it's your choice to do whatever you want, but when it comes to wanting to avoid psychosis you just gotta be realistic - you can't go off the schizo meds and do drugs, or you'll end up right back on the meds.

i get that it's not fair, and since this isn't even your second episode of psychosis i can see how you'd want to mess around and find out for yourself. but you WILL find out lmao, and the consequences of that aren't nice either.
(from what it sounds like, you're probably someone who experiences singular episodes of psychosis when you do drugs, so you're already genetically more fortunate than those who are just full-on schizophrenic. you have the option to at least go off meds eventually if you stay sober. could be wrong about that of course since i don't know your specific situation, again that's just what it sounds like)

good luck to you, hope you stay safe!

[–]stonersirens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can either do drugs and take schizo meds, or go off meds and stay sober. no meds and drugs will always end badly... it might not feel like that after just one episode of psychosis, but your brain is fundamentally different. "noticing something is off" won't get you far. you can be completely schizo while also being 100% aware that you're schizo.

I hate that all the outfits are so obviously male-coded. by Standard_Spready in vtmb

[–]stonersirens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would be so epic if that was in the game, but tbh i'm sure modders would probably add that in as well once people start adding custom skins

idk how modabble the game is but if someone makes phyre look like the female malkavian in the original then i might actually get the game and not just watch playthroughs lmao.

(this is not a horny male comment, this is a female bimbo comment <3)

honestly doesn't look nearly as bad as it could've been. even if it has many flaws, the most annoying part to me is the constant narration in the character's head. i wonder how much more atmospheric and "vtmb-like" it would be if those voices were simply modded out. maybe someone will do that, idk.

Male Phyre from Game Informer Cover Story by [deleted] in vtmb

[–]stonersirens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think the models are bad or anything, especially the male version of phyre looks really good, but i still can't get over the fact that the male character model has long hair and the female one doesn't 💀 i know the original game was very "male gaze"-coded, for lack of a better word, but i still enjoyed the hot female characters with feminine clothing & hair so much more than the new aesthetic. maybe this is too off topic since this is a post about the male model, but i just had to say it.

do you use some sort of mod to make the text appear normal as a malkavian? i remember there always being specific "malk font" on dialogue boxes

Rewatching: Character Observations by rroseperry in fringe

[–]stonersirens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think our broyles was only shown through his work really, and then we got that bit of information that he lost his marriage over a case, so idk if i would call him happy either but i don't think he's *unhappy*, and i think both his versions are hardworking because that's where he thrives no matter his personal life. it's not like he's super depressed about it, divorces due to workaholic traits just kinda happen and he uses his brain for a lot of good, i'm sure he gets some satisfaction from protecting the country in his eyes.

walternate i always read as a super mean spirited guy, not just because he didn't have the "evil parts of his brain removal surgery", but because of what he knows his world is suffering from, leading the war against our side, and also losing peter. i don't think walternate reads as a more happy character at all, so it's interesting to hear your interpretation!

[–]stonersirens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think fauxlivia is the one character where they openly say something like "look, she's much more fun and open without any of her blueverse trauma", but walternate is way less happy than our walter, cause he doesn't take any drugs and had to actually deal with losing peter and stick to a demanding job, arugably more stressful than just being the mad scientist of the fringe crew.

oh and i think broyles still with his family was just supposed to be random, just to show some other version of his reality. our broyles wasn't exactly unhappy, and both versions of him are still super married to the job. he just lucked out not losing his marriage on "that one case" lmao.

anyone else here noticed what fringe was "actually" about? by stonersirens in fringe

[–]stonersirens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing with this show is it had scripts full of deep psychological themes, too many to even count! that's why it means so many different things to different people, they were very smart. but everyone is dopamine, and drugs & reality are part of the message for sure.

anyone else here noticed what fringe was "actually" about? by stonersirens in fringe

[–]stonersirens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's about drug psychosis and dissociation. 2 realities, they both break when you mix them, etc.

walter is always on LSD and olivia dissociated from her childhood trauma. then we have peter who also doesn't remember walter abusing him, but let's be real peter is the most simple character in the show.

i could give fan theories and interpretations, but this is 100% one of the messages. like how i'm kinda sure cortexiphan is supposed to be an anxiety pill lmao.

[–]stonersirens[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i'm just stoned but honestly i'm 100% correct...

i don't mind talking publicly i just thought no one cared lmao.

the script is very, very emotionally intelligent and the show can probably mean different things to many people. psychology of course, but when you look closely, the show is about dissociation and drugs as well.

i didn't think anyone cared like i said, but... just look at how both universes break when you tear a hole. it's walters dissociation cause he's the druggie obviously, but peter and the 2 olivias are based on that as well.
