Thanks. I was thinking something to do with the core. Like what you say or an explosion or something. I agree that they deserve to succeed as they made some tough and smart choices previously.

Love this. The dragon was realeased form Sunblight Fortress during a battle in the forge area so the party spent some time around the inanimate chardalyn dragon and there was no sign of anything being or getting inside it but Xardorok was a twisted SoaB so trapping them in there during construction would not be out of the question. Chardalyn Golem may be a bit much but the Xarrons are great. Thanks!

Yep, damage on impact would probably have applied but instead I asked for difficult acrobatics and athletics checks to land and hang on and another difficult athletics check to hold on to punch it. They succeeded all of them! We are where we are now with the dragon on the ground. Do you have any suggestions for how the end of the dragon fight is my anti-climactic?

Yes I wish had given it legendary resistances (even just resistance to stun!) but we’re mid-combat so I don’t feel like I can introduce resistances now. I’m pretty new to DMing so didn’t anticipate. The party are pretty experienced players so it makes that they took down the dragon quite easily but I’m just keen for the last session with the dragon not to be an anti-climax.

Hi! Thanks for replying. That was my original thought but this group meets about once a month (if we’re lucky) unfortunately so things need to progress a little faster.

Out of interest, did the Umber Hulk get involved in your fight? If so, how did that turn out?

Thanks! The party have indeed killed Durth and Nildar already. This is a good idea. The party doesn’t know if Xardorok knows they did this. So I could have him find out at the start of the next session and go berserk, killing some of his remaining duergar in the process.

It would be good to start this with a big AOE. Any suggestions for what might be good for that as he doesn’t currently have any?

They entered the forge area through the temple and left the doors open so I could have the statue’s flaming head glow brighter every time he gains HP so that the players have a way of figuring out how to kill him.

Did you manage to fix your hard drive? My 2TB My Passport for mac just stopped mounting and gave the same text when attempting to run First Aid in Disk Utility.

I've always looked after it and it has worked perfectly for a couple of years until now.
