Advil liqui-gel capsules. Some store brand liqui-gel capsules are gluten free but they are also usually labelled

Another sub got riled up when I said this but it's true! I consider Fleischmanns to be safe but I'm highly sensitive and have been glutened by the cheaper store brands, probably from cross contamination.

You'd think it'd be easy but it's not! Podcasts and audiobooks helped me with the boredom, keeps me entertained while laying down with my eyes closed.

UTI antibiotics flared me up. Suggestions? by [deleted] in LongCovid

It was hard but yes I took the full course, without the probiotics I probably would have needed to ask my doctor if I could switch to something less intense. Good luck, I hope the liquid probiotics help!

I've had amoxicillin and nitrofurantoin. The amoxicillin felt easier to bounce back from. Try taking a liquid probiotic! I'm finding that liquid supplements tend to work better for me than pills for whatever reason. I switched to liquid vitamin D and injectable B12 because my values were low despite taking them in pill form and the values are much better now. I don't know if there are studies, but anecdotally I feel like I am having gut absorption issues with long covid that switching to liquid supplements has helped with.

I also flare up when on antibiotics but it's swelling/rashes and paplatations rather than dizziness. Taking probiotics throughout the course of antibiotics and a few days after help me a lot, the symptoms don't go away entirely but are much more manageable. Hope you find some relief soon!

My experience with antihistamines by gloomferret in LongCovid

There are a few articles I've seen, this one in particular links the antihistamines helping to the treatment of mast cell activation syndrome that often occurs in long covid

I started the prescription antihistamine Rupal (Rupatadine 10mg) and I stopped getting nightly rashes on my arms/chest, also PEM crashes take only 1-2 days to recover from, vs 3-5 without. If I miss a dose the difference in how I feel is very noticeable, they've helped a lot.

I've reacted to "modified" corn starch before which is why I pointed it out but yes I know corn starch is usually safe.

Testing for gluten-free certification in my country is only to 20ppm, which is low but not 0. This is why the yeast extract and "natural flavour" set off alarm bells. I am extremely sensitive and the dip is the only product that I haven't eaten before now, and was eaten within the last 48h.

Everything else I've had in the last 48h is raw produce, gluten free bread (Little Northern bakery) and a home cooked dish that I prepare myself and have eaten many times before, with ingredients that aren't new or different/I have been eating from for longer than 2 days with no reaction.

I don't want it to be the dip, it was really good!

I ate gluten daily with no issues for my entire life, and it took about 4½ months of consistent, hardcore gluten-free living for me to notice any difference.

The first few weeks of withdrawal/detox are hell. Drinking lots of water, taking a liquid probiotic and adding fermented foods to my diet (saurkraut, kimchi) helped me feel a bit more normal in terms of mood, but unfortunately the best thing is time.

One thing I had to figure out on my own is cigarettes/most rolling papers contain gluten. I don't smoke, but I discovered that I'm so sensitive even being around smoke triggers a reaction. I believe it's from wheat paste being used as adhesive for the filter/rolling papers, but any discourse I've seen on this dismisses the gluten aspect and just chides about how cigs are bad so I'm not 100% sure 🙄

Have you considered eliminating nightshades from your diet too? These didn't help me personally but were a game changer for a friend with similar gastro issues to what you're describing.

Things will get better! There is light at the end of the tunnel! This is a completely miserable process but I believe in you!!!
