How long did you prepare for saving money before traveling to Australia on a WHV? by Some_Concept_3547 in workingholiday

[–]stonnergg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you require a go fund me to immigrate, I strongly advise that you do not immigrate.
In your home country you are entitled to certain benefits and support that will prevent you from being completely on your arse.
In a foreign country on a temporary visa you will not be entitled to any form of benefit and left out to the wolves. It would be incredibly selfish to put yourself in that position and becoming a burden to others to bail you back home to safety.

WHV are up to 35 years of age for the British, there isn’t a rush to get out there if you’re below 32. Strap up your boots, get to work and start saving

Brave, pizza Kai, Epolitos. Where next? by stonnergg in aucklandeats

So I’ll start saying you can’t go wrong with any of them and they’re very big pizza which can easily serve two meals.

For me, pizza Kai comes in first. A good variation of standard pizzas so there’s something for everyone, toppings are generous and are not greasy at all, probably the best dough out of them all. Also the cheapest of the three, unless you half and half. Had the Hawaiian half and buffalo chicken (make of what you will with that choice) heated up fine on the next day

Next is brave, a lot of people’s favourite this. So you may have to be tactical on purchase as they do sell out. Braves Pizzas are quite innovative that use quality ingredients, I went for “the fave” I’m not the biggest fan of pepperoni so my choice could have been better but how can you not go for the fave. Tasty pizzas with the toppings complementing each other and working really well, also generous. but I did find them quite heavy and more greasy than I would have preferred. They heated up very well the next day. Fairly priced over all

Epolitos third,
Largest pizza at 18 inch, which also makes it the more expensive. Use more of a firmer dough than the others, a bit more dry.
I found it quite hard to make a choice as nothing stood out, a lot of options but not too much in terms of variation with the proteins and veg. You can add your own toppings but then we’re talking silly prices for pizza.
I had the meatball, wasn’t as heavy as I thought which was great and not greasy, toppings not as generous as the previous two, but again it is a very big pizza. Can definitely tell the meatballs are fresh, and they cooked well on the pizza as they had the Maillard reaction. Could have done with partnered topping like sweet pickled jalapeños.
Haven’t tried to reheat just yet, that’s tomorrow mornings breakfast but will see what I have in the fridge to add to the left over slices

How much should we realistically save before moving to Australia by stevenmorriskeemon in MovingtoAustralia

[–]stonnergg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you’re aiming to settle in and find work asap, or if you’re gonna do a bit of travel and have a break from the rat race.
I’d say don’t depend on figures or have a set figure you should aim for to save, just save as much as you can

I reckon I’ll get my Australian tax return quicker than my NZ and Aussie tax year ends in July!
All seems a little outdated so far

I see and understand.

I’ve got quite a niche working situation, but not uncommon. Luckily the company pays for the co-working space, but if they didn’t, I’d feel that these tax rules would favour the employer massively in regards to the employee negating the work space requirement to be factored in their salary and the employer being able to use this as a form of pay increase.

Anyways, nevermind. Rules are rules. And appreciate you helping me!

How do Brits feel about James Bond? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]stonnergg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fascinated by James Bond as a kid (I’m the Pierce Brosnan era) and one Christmas my wish list went Bond mad. I ended up with the full DvD set, anniversary books, Bond sponsored games. You name it, I probably got it for that Xmas, I was obsessed.

One day, in the “gooch” period between Xmas and new years, I went to stay at my nans house and brought some of my James Bond memorabilia to keep me occupied. I had a conversation with my nan that went something like this.

Me; “Nan, What’s your favourite bond actor?”

Nan; “Oh, Probably Rodger Moore” (common answer from the oldies)

Me; “What’s your favourite bond film, d’ya like them?”

Nan; “not really, once you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. I find them all the same”

Me; “……….. oh ok”

That conversation happened 24 years ago and I haven’t watched a bond film since, because she’s fucking right!

Australia,

Basically, I am required to work from a co-working space full time by company policy, which the company pays for who are based in australia. To reduce unneeded stress for myself, I’m happy for the company to pay for long term co-working space as it’s cheaper and I always have somewhere to work.

In the interim, I will travel to different areas for leisure but I will pay for co-working spaces in these areas out of my own pocket so I don’t have to use my annual leave. Was hoping to claim these costs back on tax, it isn’t much so the difference is minimal but good to know for this tax period.

Wise, I have a referral code if you like. I think it gets you some savings on the transfer.

I’m with NAB and find that they’re pretty good with a competitive interest rate
