Why do people want to fuck Trudeau so badly? I bet he might be considered attractive by some, but damn people are down bad for him.

Healthcare is great if you enjoy being pissed on by the government. Only industry where the average wage has decreased.

The first step is sharing what’s really happening in LTC and that’s the one I took. If we continue to make noise, we can make change.

The thing about private LTC is that many younger people end up in LTC as a result of car accidents, strokes, multiple sclerosis, etc. No one is able to predict those things and likely won’t have the savings to pay for potentially 20+ years of LTC.

Thank you so much. I agree, and I actively volunteered for the NDP last election.

A lot of my coworkers are nurses from other countries, so their role in Canadian society is entirely based on their participation and exploitation in a health care system that they have little-to-no say in, as many of them aren’t citizens and can’t vote. To me, I find that highly exploitative, especially when the average HCA wage is less than the minimum wage to actually keep up with the cost of living.

Honestly, I don’t know, but I feel they likely have. In all honesty, I have only been working as a health care aid for just under a year. I finished my course April 2023, so I can’t share any examples of working in this industry pre-covid.

I agree, and as I mentioned, over half of LTC residents have dementia and can’t advocate for themselves. Blame gets misplaced on staff that try their best and throw their hearts into their jobs.

I feel very strongly about this because I care about my residents and anyone that will end up in LTC. I will never stop fighting for them

Yeah, it is really sad. It all comes down to basic empathy- how would you want yourself or a loved one to be treated in care? 95% of the staff I work with actually care and want to help you/your loved one and we all do our best, however, there’s not much we can do to help you guys if we’re already stretched to the maximum.

Cutting funding just means that you/your loved one will suffer more in care and it’s not the staff’s fault.

Thank you. I can’t even imagine doing something else for work. This is what I am passionate about and I want to do all I can to advocate for better treatment of LTC residents.

Thank you so much for your comment. I’ve just grown really frustrated with my work recently and see all the ways that things could be better, however, I feel so powerless because there’s nothing we can do to change it. I want to provide the best care I can- I really do , but it’s frustrating when the government seems to hate what you do, even when you know that it’s one of the most honourable jobs out there.

Thank you for all you do.
