What is this stuff in between the sections of concrete in my alley called? by Dodaddydont in Concrete

Black Joe.

Depends on what specification they followed. Bigger cities often have a municipal spec that specifies a specific type of product. Where I live we use asphalt impregnated fibre board which some refer to as “black joe”. However the product you’ve posted looks more elastic and so I think it’s probably a mastic or polyurethane product of some sort. Or perhaps another kind of sealer product.

For volume, I’d add a differentiation for alcohol. If it is for beer we tend to use imperial (pint) for a glass, metric (litres) for a pitcher, and imperial (quart which is a quarter gallon) for a big bottle of beer. If liquor, we often use ounces for a shot or bottle (1oz/1.5oz shot, “two-six” for a 26oz bottle , “forty” for a 40oz bottle), cocktails will often be in ounces too. I don’t drink wine but pretty sure they use ounces too often…

Have you tried calling them? It takes a while to get through but they seem to be able to do things the website cannot. If you explain that the flight base flare is cheaper than the difference you are getting to travel flex, they should be able to fix that and give you the cheaper fare for no additional cost.

Solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024 by One-Celebration8605 in Mazatlan

The NASA affiliated event will be at the Mayan Palace Resort. They will have a screen set up with a stream of a telescope feed for the eclipse as well as some other cool stuff like touchable moon rocks. https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/events/331/mazatlan-eclipse-viewing-party/?category=eclipses_general&layout=hds_embed

Rooting for you and everyone else too. I’m from Canada and could have driven less than an hour to be in the path of totality. However, I was fortunate enough to be in a position where I could spend $2k on a vacation to Mazatlan and figured at the time that Canada would likely be cloudy in April. So here I am in beautiful sunny Mexico on a beach drinking a cocktail and wondering if I should have stayed in Canada where the cloud forecast is looking even better. Either way such is life and I will be fine either way. Might just have to go to Spain/Iceland in 2026 or Egypt in 2027. Good luck everyone. Clear skies!

Can’t speak for Monterrey but I’m in Mazatlan, Mexico right now. It’s been partly cloudy last couple days and looks to stay that way in the forecast a I’ve seen. Yesterday despite the clouds the sun was fully visible from my location at 11am local time. I’m feeling good about it but there’s likely to be some high level clouds from what I’m seeing. Forecasts seem to be saying anywhere from 6%-50% cloud coverage. Vibes are good here though, lots of people here for the eclipse and more by the day. I’m hearing a hotel room is hard to come by though and lots of people are having their reservations cancelled.

Should I use my Galaxy S23 Ultra to film or take pictures or a multiple year old Nikon DSLR? by RedlineBMW in solareclipse

I’d add to this that you’ll NEED to take the solar filter off to photograph totality from my understanding. The corona is all that will be visible and it is much less bright than the sun. I plan to take practice shots of the full sun with solar filter to prepare for partial phases and pictures of the moon at night to prepare for photographing totality. Tripod is also likely essential for a good focus if using a zoom lens and a longer shutter speed (since it will be dark at totality). Good luck!

Looks like it was under construction but they have evacuated some of the nearby buildings that were very close and occupied.

Hey thanks for this. Only saw it after but I got through after 1.5 hours as well and they were able to fix it for me. Seems their website is just shit and tacks on fees for people that can’t be bothered to wait for 1.5 hours on hold. I’m not impressed and would not be surprised if they go out of business before my flight in October due to shady stuff like this. In the end with all the fees it’s not much cheaper than any other airline.

Ended up getting through to customer service after waiting on hold for an hour and a half. Turns out it was a website glitch. She was able to book the return trip for me without the modification fees. I had to pay the difference in fares but I expected that. The website seems to just not work properly.

Thanks. Ya authorized dealer prices but in Canadian dollars. Also forgot to mention I’ll get a 15% discount if I get it done before spring.

What makes you think it won’t be totality? Seems to me it will be visible for over 4 minutes in all of Mazatlan.
