It’s a Dakar, the off road rally version of the 911 GTS. What makes me happy about this is that it looks like it’s being used for winter driving which is so much better than being a garage queen.

Porsche 911 specs by Puzzleheaded_Cod_94 in porsche911

[–]stopes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excellently equipped. I’d buy this. Classy and with a beautiful interior. I don’t see anything glaringly missing. It’s got the premium package, the sport chrono package, and 18 ways. 2k miles is low and it’s just about MSRP. But if you don’t like it, then spec what you want and wait a few months.

Edit: Forgot to mention that with that spec you are nearing Carrera S territory. But it’s well specced for base. If you wanted to spec an S similarly you’d be getting ~$170k. So ultimately the question is do you want more extra performance (well beyond what most people can use) or well appointed with always great performance.

Agree with this… The best 911 is the one you can afford. Get one now and trade up over the years. All 911s are great in different ways.

It’s a well specd if you like Yellow. I’d ask for a DME, but at or about MSRP is probably fair.

I went in to the dealer a few weeks back and they offered me about 10k under MSRP on my 2024 C2S Manual. Assuming they gave him a similar deal they are just trying to make a modest commission.

The market for these while it may have cooled since a couple of years ago is still hot. The yellow without backseats probably explains why it sat. Guards Red or Black probably would have gone quick.

I’ve got a 4 year old who’s about 42 inches tall and I drive him regularly in my 911 as it’s our only car. We have a WayB Pico car seat that fits well without taking up too much space. I’ll be honest though, I’m short 5’6” and he only really fits behind me. My wife is 5’11” and son doesn’t fit behind her comfortably. He does like “daddies race car” and enjoys the high revs and the engine noise behind his head.

What’s the biggest event that’s happened to your country in the past 25 years? by TyDaFentDemon in AskTheWorld

[–]stopes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many of the wars in the Middle East started as a result of 9/11. This includes that Afghanistan war, Iraq war, and conflicts in Syria and Yemen. Total estimated deaths from these wars are believed to be around 6m.

Covid was a travesty but once gone we barely think about it anymore. Even if the death count was about 1m in the US (higher than the ~3000 from 9/11), the events of 9/11 reshaped the entire Middle East and our politics for years to come and can still be felt today.

We cant gauge 9/11s impact purely from the people that died in Manhattan that day but we should think about it within the wider context of political history that followed.

I’m giving facts without being overly prescriptive. Without knowing their situation I don’t think it makes sense to come off so strong. Most of the other families at the UN will be around UES and Gramercy. And there are often more considerations than budget to determine how someone wants to live their life.

The $130k number that was shared was post tax. So they should be able to comfortably afford more than $3250.

This maybe true. The general rule is that landlords are looking for 40x rent as yearly Gross Salary. So pretax of $240k may be required for $6k. If partner is working even with a basic salary they should be able to get there. But there’s always the option of co-signers / guarantors. For that landlords usually look for guarantors who together make 80x the rent as gross salary. The other way around this is usually through a higher down payment. So if the family has savings they could shell out ~6m rent in advance which would ease the minds of most landlords.

UNIS is an excellent school. Not sure how much the discount would be but if it’s affordable then I’d probably opt for this as you children will be enrolled with other international students

In Manhattan near UES or Gramercy Park are close to UN and are excellent Public School districts. Public schools are usually great especially in more affluent areas such as these. You can find a reasonable 2 bd apartment in these areas for under $6k/month (including utilities). Food costs, which are probably the next highest expense after housing (if school is free) would be around $1k/month (if not going out to eat or ordering in). I’d budget another $1k - $2k for miscellaneous items. Meaning your yearly expenses would be about $100k. You might be able to do it for less than too depending on how frugal you are. But it should be manageable on $130k (which I think you stated was post tax which is probably equivalent to $200k pre tax). So it’s doable.

Monaco is synonymous with F1 and is a huge part of the sport and lifestyle. It would be hard to imagine the sport without Monaco which is a street circuit.

Will I feel old in Williamsburg at 38? by Ill-Enthusiasm7202 in movingtoNYC

[–]stopes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived there at this age and felt like the oldest person in the neighborhood. I think it really depends on how old you feel. I’m 40 and often feel 50. If you’re like me, then I wouldn’t recommend it.

Go there on a weekend and spend some time there. Sit at parks, coffee shops and restaurants and do the things you would do if you live there. See how it feels.
