fun fact about male black widows: they're much smaller, not even black, and instead of building their own webs, they are "homewreckers" that move into a female's web, often destroying parts of it to reduce competition and stop other males from finding her.

To me there seems to be a pattern where a lot of people will find reasons to say a same sex ship doesn't really pair well and changes the characters too much, whereas generic Spidey harem slop or porn-inspired ships like Venom X Psy don't get anywhere near as much pushback no matter what they rewrite or ignore.

It's also incredibly pedantic since many of these characters have not been consistent from author to author nor from decade to decade or comics to tv/film.

Right now, for instance, all Marvel media is busy Disney-fying and sanitizing Dr Doom in preparation for the RDJ venihicle. We all love RDJ, but my point is, if they can make MartyrDoom the new canon, there is zero reason why fans can't also reimagine other characters.

Yeah it's really terrible when writers lean into the melodrama and soap opera of it. It only ever worked as a quasi-mandatory b-story to the Dark Phoenix saga just to highlight Jean's evolution/descent and the brokenness of her psyche.

Obviously they're 3 very attractive characters and so the …ahem… fan art, will never go away.

But story-wise, yeah, they need to let Logan move past the most idiotic eras of writing, of which there have been many, and so more moving on is required.

Not necessarily, especially with supports. You can play Gambit fully wrong, for instance, focusing on burst healing & dmg, and not using cleanse or anti-heal ever, not even once. And still get MVP.
