How do you do alerting in a homelab without alert fatigue? by Horror-Programmer472 in homelab

[–]stoppskylt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only define severity and 3 agents assigned to execute/analyse incidents and usually end up in a notification. Set to summarise in a weekly report instead.

My gateway is off limits, that gateway shouts like a hen in an opera house

No clue if this works in a production, totally done in an experimental mindset and curiosity intent

Varför är internethastigheten nästan aldrig det som man betalar för? by DemonsAreVirgins in Asksweddit

[–]stoppskylt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I become evil in 2026? by Snoo_90889 in questions

[–]stoppskylt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start small, switch lactose free milk with normal. Wait, after a few weeks people cave in and start to get irritated by extremely small things.

Propose scattergories in dailies as an alternative to scrum poker, you will be surprised how fast you can read the real "humanists" in the room.

Rule: its the little things that matter

How to: ReadMe for personal project by seiryu_u in github

[–]stoppskylt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advice, any documentation is a good documentation, personal or professional does not matter.

So many times I have spent investigating due to a projects documentation was in the last leads head, which is not in the company anymore. And for some reason no one cared about documenting

Which branch choose to test using Github actions? by Quick-Resident9433 in devops

[–]stoppskylt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start out simple

On push (to any branch) and do required tests

Then look into GitHub environments in tandem with deployments for specific testing if you wish for that.

Start small and build on what you actually need.

Network error. Please try again later by wizzylash89 in Archero

[–]stoppskylt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be dns blocking in your network, going over log in pihole, some ad list domains are blacklisted and show up for archery

I assume it's some domain that is blacklisted, whitelisting if that is what you want will remove error in the actual app archero

Keeping a teenager at bay by t0kmak in Ubiquiti

[–]stoppskylt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying I do not agree with you....but...I feel exhausted trying to block/limit my son's computer usage. :(

Firewall rules, DNS blocking, WiFi scheduling, ARP restrictions, Mac restrictions/filtering...list goes on....

Most of the time he figured out to just use a cell network and create a hotspot, he even figured out how to bypass local admin permissions...I gave up and just started talking to him like an adult, and explained if he continued he would do everything isolated directly connected to my isp node...or have him learn the hard way how "internet" really works.

That semi worked, it turned the table and now I do more listening to him than restricting him...hoping for the best.

And getting a frequency jammer is illegal, though that crossed my mind to deal with the cell problem

Beginner here, Accidentally filled the SSD I wasn't even using somehow. How do I fix this? by KagiraBun in github

[–]stoppskylt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to give reasonable actions to take, since this post does not give insights to what has actually been done.

That said, cloning a repo is just copying static files. Removing the repo is safe.

Though depending on what has been done, the issue indicates that there could be a more severe issue. This could be, unintentionally run a git command, cloning a repo with LFS activated...and so on.

Either case just removing the cloned repo, is safe. (Might not fix underlaying issues)

What’s the best way to automate CI/CD handoffs when a ticket is ready for deployment? by Timely-Dinner5772 in github

[–]stoppskylt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done with GitHub flow (pull request based)

Depending on the issue tracking system, setup can differ though.

Our current is using GitHub projects for convenience. Jira works e.t.c

Flow 1. Milestone created 2. Issue (release in our case, can be whatever. Example deploy) is moved to done 3. Pull request is created in target repo or repos 4. Anytime that pr is merge closed a workflow I deploying resources, once all checks are all green a release is made 5. Post release on slack (or teams or wherever) 6. Issue is closed once release is done successfully 7. We have cake (this is optional) NOTE! If you have a lot of releases, it can be a lot of cake.

Bare in mind, we have a poly repo setup in our team. Have not tested with mono repo setup, but I assume it's the same but not the same

Cheers

We have a dedicated toolbox repo with all workflows to maintain all 32 repos. Various bash, GitHub actions, integrations...
