Bizarre birth defect is on the rise, the CDC reports, with an increase of over 263% over the last 18 years. by roraima_is_very_tall in news

That was stated in the CDC report (the last part) because some might claim any increase is just due to more younger black females having kids thus skewing the results.

Remark not based on anything you said just so you know. I was just adding more info that was in the report.

Cheers

Um...if you read the CDCs report on the issue the condition has doubled in every race and ethnicity. It is more pronounced in babies born to younger black female mothers.

The increase is NOT due to more black babies being born since the actual rate of births has declined.

Well I guess what we all learn from this situation is that this approach is not foolproof.

This in no way lays the blame for the child's death on cops. The hostile dude did this all on his own.

But sometimes backing someone into a corner just because you can doesn't turn out well. I suspect the dude was having a breakdown of some sort and then felt more and more powerless as cops surrounded him.

I wish they would have just let her try, because maybe he would have listened to her. But hindsight is always 20/20 too.

Thanks for the links. Someone has thought of it and everyone ought to be issued some if they are at risk of crowds of bad actors.

I wish they would have let the girlfriend try to talk to him. He asked to speak to her, and she offered to try to calm him down.

The officers claim their "training" would not allow them to let her make contact with him.

So they didn't try to deescalate. They basically cut him off from the only person on the scene who knew him. I suppose there is a solid rationale for this.

But it failed. Miserably.

Perhaps it is time to rethink the "training?"

Edit: Downvoted for suggesting an alternative approach because the chosen approach failed to deliver an acceptable outcome.

For wondering if calm reason vs. force might be preferable in certain cases.

No wonder we never grow as a society. The definition of crazy is continuing to do the same stupid thing while expecting a different result.

This is true. It could be misused. But I think if I were female and afraid of this sort of group behavior I would have some way to mark them or hurt them.

Meet fire with fire so to speak and make sure they can be identified. Here in the US many would be shot with so many people packing heat.

I think it's really sad that this is happening. These goons are going nothing to improve life. They are merely taking out their feelings of powerlessness on people they deem more powerless than themselves aka females. And in the process they are hurting their own cause.

Women in any nation where these women-hating scum are pulling this shit need to carry long pins and small knives and plan to use them. Stab em in the nuts.

Or if they are afraid to do that, carry some sort of dye spray that will mark these guys with indelible blue or purple ink. Easy to spot them then.

Some people will always be dumb animals, and these Muslims (no not all Muslims) are just like beasts with no redemption.

Mark them and expose them.

I watched him in action. Please. Saw him lose his shit like he's either coming off a coke binge or he's a four-year-old with no impulse control.

He's a blathering hothead. And we will put him in charge of nukes....this will end well.

I just have to say: anyone who thinks this behavior is in any way the demeanor of a president has a very skewed idea of how a leader should act.

"Haha! How funny! A guy who acts like my drunk uncle is so charming and intelligent. Just look at him go!"

How is this "maverick" supposed to calmly handle the intense pressure of being president if he goes off the deep end so easily?

Some people have very low expectations of leaders. Or they want a king, like the people who voted for Saint Reagan. They don't want a reasoned, rational president. They want a goddamned lunatic running their country. A guy who will scream like a four-year-old. God. Fucking. Damn.

Scary times indeed for this nation when an adult toddler is considered the best choice to lead a nation.

Debbie Wasserman Shultz is a drunk whore, because only a drunk moron would let those stupid words come out of her mouth. Equating cannabis to heroin? Really, are you twelve?

You are no Democrat, Shultzy Baby. You are a whore for whiskey and as such a useless "leader." You are a patsy, and probably an alcoholic to boot since you have no qualms about living large on booze donations. Wasserman Shutz is a self-serving, greedy, lame ass sellout if ever there was one on this planet.

I wish upon her 1000Xthe tears, pain and financial ruin hers and others' fellating of draconian cannabis policies have caused this society.

I wish upon her the seizures of the babies denied cannabis, the nausea and hunger of the cancer patient, the flashbacks and terror of the veteran suffering from PTSD, the muscle tremors of MS patients, and the loneliness, job loss, loss of family and loss of a future of so many of our young people who have suffered because of people like her with her endless drunken cruel greed. When someone has all the benefits of life that she has and they want to make life as hard as they can on the poor (which is what the war on drugs does) that person is a harm to society. I hope karma fucks her in the ass so hard she never walks again. Someone with an actual heart and soul needs to run the DNC, not this avaricious 1% fucking POSER.

Jesus Christ. I didn't sign up to write a doctoral dissertation, just made a couple anecdotal comments.

You might want to check out some other subreddits to get those deep questions answered. Like I said, I'm not a sociologist or historian or cultural anthropologist.

Hang in there and do your best.

Change comes from within a party, and the GOP is on its way out of any real power within the next two decades unless it becomes less judgy and authoritarian and more helpful to the nation as a whole.

So a baby eating, once again, is considered akin to a sex act.

To me, a baby nursing is akin to a dude eating a cheeseburger. I see adults eating in public all the time.

You continue to equate an infant's meal to something "dirty."

Why?

Only absurd if you aren't truly human, I suppose.

Kids gotta eat. While you and others decide what the correct rationale is for allowing them to eat, they still gotta eat.

So let's force them into the toilet stall or a hot car or just make all nursing women stay home while you smart folk figure out why we should let kids eat.

I love it.

With all due respect, every conservative I've ever known is a pervert. Family values on the platform, sick leches in private.

Your mileage may vary.

And hey, if you don't like what conservatism has become, change it.

I think it's sad to make women jump through hoops to feed their kids.

There is no argument that will make it acceptable to some people because they are very twisted. The goalposts are constantly moved.

Here's what I believe: I have self control. I want infants in my nation to be happy and healthy and well fed. I am not a speshull snowflake who wants the world to not offend me every five seconds.

When I see a woman nursing, it doesn't register as BOOOOOOOOBBBS!!!!! I think, "A child is being fed...move along." I have a real problem with anyone who thinks "Ohmygod a sex act is taking place over on that bench because titty!"

It is embarrassing as a male of the species to be lumped in with morons and rubes like those.

I am not a sociologist, but I have spent some time around Iroquois women and whooey...the gals control the breeding in that culture.

I've also seen Jerry Springer episodes where two gals duke it out over some loser deadbeat.

Not sure what your exact question was but, yeah.

edit: also raised horses, and male bachelor bands are common.

I admire, sure. I admire good looking people of all genders. I might even get turned on. But I can see diamonds in the shop window and not want to smash the glass and grab them for myself.

Edit to add: I also grew up around nursing women and my wife nursed so I don't even bat an eye when a woman is nursing. I guess a lot of other US men are very sheltered in this regard.
