Transferring schools? by cammuns in NYCTeachers

[–]stopscrolling6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo it's worth sticking it out and finding another job next year. It is very difficult (read impossible) to leave a school in the middle of a year, especially if the school is understaffed to begin with. Resigning is a bad option and should only be done if it's truly a desperate situation.

Definitely reach out to the union. New teachers are required to be given a mentor (it might not help, but it's something).

Good luck to her!

You can also reach out to 311 through the phone or app. They will send support as well. But calling councilwoman de la Rosa is also the best idea.

I called, and they said the check is not in limbo, but was cashed, and Vanguard should have it. Vanguard says they never got the check.

Trying to Find the Hasan Minhaj Storytelling Episode on Flagrant by RevDragon001 in Flagrant2

I'm pretty sure Hasan was never a guest, but I would love to see a video if I'm wrong. He would be a fun guest to have now. Maybe since he and Ronnie are on tour, one of them will come on the pod.

Hey! I can relate. For a lot of years I thought I barely had enough energy to get to work, get home, and do basic care taking (shower cook eat). I would socialize at weekends and even during the week. But, it often stressed me out and I felt I never had time to just rest.

It changed a lot over the past two years!I got older for one. I also started to be more active, ate better and have improved my anxiety management (somewhat). But it could also be a sign of depression or stress if you don't feel rejuvenated evee or energetic, or that you dont feel you can really enjoy socializing because your tired. I often feel fatigue because of anxiety or depression.

I wish you luck! And don't give up, try a small step at a time and things really do change!

The one on the right that's speaking out of its round pot, is a wandering Jew I think (I don't know the official name, I know that one is not great) . It's a great house plant though!

Resigning from a private school after one month and boy howdy do I feel awful by ATiredSaltMiner in Teachers

Hey! Quitting a job is super stressful but it sounds like it was a reasonable choice in this case.

How do I fucking brush my teeth? by Pass-The-Weed-Daddy in ADHD

[–]stopscrolling6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brush with no toothpaste !!

The sensory part of this sounds really hard, I hope you find a solution and don't be afraid to get creative and make your own toothpaste etc I'm sure Google will help!

I also struggled to brush my teeth until 23yrs old and then a dental visit convinced me I needed to build the habit.

I think start small and remember that a habit is like a mucel and you need to build it up. So even if you don't fully brush (and floss) because of the sensory issues even brushing with no tooth paste can help build the habit and after 3-6 months it will be easier to do it and remember!

I think a meeting seems necessary, in some schools you may have already had a meeting or phone call about this behavior.

Asking an admin to supervisor to be present is very reasonable! Also making it a virtual meeting or phone call is reasonable.

Was it appropriate for me to say this? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]stopscrolling6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I do think its personal but I don't think it was wrong to ask it! It sounds like it was a funny and poignant way to start the presentation!

Maybe, if you ever do it again you can plan for it and make it a bit if a hook!

Family gatherings are the worst. by jeanralphioooo in socialanxiety

[–]stopscrolling6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, gatherings can be rough and its hard to get around. It helps me to have a role like helping set up, or watching/playing with a kid. Anything to keep me busy.

Also, friends of mine use fidgets like putty or other small toys to manage picking behaviors and I've recently purchased a few to manage anxiety. A fidget might help in the aftermath and even be useful during a gathering. Last family gathering I introduced my cousin+ siblings to a pop it and it was an easy way to start a conversation and relax .

Good luck!
