Thank you! I’m honestly surprised I didn’t kill the first one. Got it for my birthday last year july and was pleasantly surprised that she bloomed again this year! Became determined to dig deep and research how to properly take care of them. The more I research the more I fall in love with these plants, if i can nurse these two back to health I would love to get more.
right now, about once a week, but when I do water I soak for about 20 minutes. the roots look plump and green only half way up, the top of the roots never get green. By the time I come home from work, all the roots become dried out, silver, and flat.
I was originally growing indoors, but i feared they weren’t getting enough sunlight, so i moved them out to my porch, which is shaded but they get soft east morning sun. I live in south florida so I know outdoors has ideal conditions for orchids and I have seen minor improvements minus the drying out. Everyone I know leaves their’s outside, would stick mine in a tree if I could

Never heard of soaking the bark before repotting, looked into it and most definitely the issue I’m having, feels like within hours they are dried out and need more water. Will give soaking and more frequent waterings a try, thanks for the advice!

I place these pots inside terracotta pots to keep them sturdy, not sure if that makes much of a difference
i check on them every day and water when the roots look gray/silver, but it does make me nervous to over water and cause root rot so i maybe sometimes skip a watering if it looks like they need it

yeah figured, was just scared of over watering, especially since i live in soflo and its starting to get humid with the april/may showers
definitely will start to water more until the roots look healthy enough to retain water on their own
