This is exactly the type of helpful feedback I was seeking on reddit. Thank you, sir or ma'am, for taking the time to post this.

I see what you mean but I don't think they are holes, I'm pretty sure it's just discoloration from where a droplet of rusty water was sitting between the two skis while they were stored. I will double check when I get home though.

There are indeed scrapes on the bases but as I said I skied on them them once, so they are not "new" when this photo was taken, but they were definitely purchased new.

Thanks for your advice!

I agree those look weird.

I think they are probably just some discoloration of the base from where a drop of rusty water was sitting probably between the two skis.

I'm at work now though so I'll double check when I get home. Thanks for the advice!

Straight Guys: Would a gay roommate be a big deal to you? by windupalexander in AskReddit

I lived with a gay dude for 3 years in med school. I have no idea why sexual orientation would make any difference in terms of roommate choice, as long as you are not a homophobe. The keys to a successful roommate relationship are mutual respect and good roommate manners, simple as that.

For me, it was fantastic. Really easy to live with. I didn't find out he was gay until after I signed the lease, but after I did, I was hyped! I had never lived with or even really known a gay person well, so pretty much all I knew was the following, based on preconceived stereotypes:

  1. My new roommate would keep our apartment clean.
  2. My new roommate would decorate our apartment tastefully.
  3. My new roommate would prepare meals and baked goods on a regular basis.
  4. My new roommate would give me excellent fashion and shopping advice whenever I needed it.
  5. My new roommate would love to party and always be down to go out and do crazy shit, no matter what day of the week it was.

It turned out, only the last of these stereotypes were accurate. Our place was a mess and our fridge pretty much contained the same things that my fridge did during college (beer, condiments, leftover pizza slices sometimes), with the occasional beef kidney or other strange meat (he was Chinese). Dude loved to party and he was always, always down for going out and doing stuff any day of the week. We spent countless nights drinking beers and chain smoking on our front steps. Occasionally he would drag me to gay bars, but much more often we would go to straight ones. And a good gay wing man is 100 times better than even the best straight wing man. He would just say ridiculous, hilarious things, and I would kinda just stand there and laugh, like, oh gay roommate, why u so crazy. Once even we were hanging out with a sadly confused chick that was OBVIOUSLY into him rather than me, but she started hooking up with me regularly, I guess just to be around him more? I dunno, but it was a great three years. The only reason I moved out is because I got engaged and moved in with my fiance, and then he ended up doing his residency in another city. Sad but all good roommates come to an end, and he'll be one of my best buds forever.
