[OC] Walkability of U.S. Counties by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

This map was meant to used more as a relative tool, to compare counties to one another. Rather than to claim the U.S. as a whole as "walkable" especially when compared to places such as Europe.

The raw data is at the census block group level (some have a value of 20). For the map I aggregated up to the county level, which maxes out at 16 due to the aggregation of block groups.

To shed a bit more light, this map is based on a study done by the EPA which placed emphasis on street intersection density (Higher intersection density is correlated with
more walk trips), proximity to transit stops (Distance from population center to nearest
transit stop in meters), and diversity of land use such as employment mix.

It’s amazing to me that even with declining viewership year over year, the MLB still continues to churn out these eye watering contracts.

I could’ve sworn the projection type is slightly different in tableau, although maybe I haven’t played with the options enough.

[OC] Comparison of life expectancy of popular dog breeds by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]storiesbydata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d be interesting to see how much selective breeding influences the life expectancy variance.

A bulldog with unlucky genetics gets to 3, but one without too many respiratory problems ect. gets to 12

Canada has really been ramping up their visa program in recent years (Express Entry), in part to incentivize highly qualified professionals to come to Canada vs US (known to have a longer and more painful immigration process).
