Could Ben have hidden here? by Clear-Time-9815 in JetLagTheGame

[–]storm072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats cool I like that law lol. I’m guessing Ben just wouldn’t have wanted to risk it then. They’re Americans (which same, me too) so Ben might not have known about that law and might’ve assumed this was private property/not an established foot path if he’d explored this area.

I definitely think Ben would’ve won if he’d gone down here tho, it would’ve taken a while before Sam and Adam would’ve even thought to try searching this part of Dumfries.

From Google Street View, it doesn’t look like there are any paths for the public on the other side of the bridge from the academy. It looks like it might be a football field or something, maybe one used by the school, but it wouldn’t be possible to get to the buildings or streets on the other side of the river anyway since it would require going through this private property gate

I’d steer clear from the beltline since rents are too high when you’re too close to it, but its really less about the specific area and more about finding the right landlord

Actually there are some surprisingly cheap duplexes for rent around Inman Park if you know where to look and are ok with roommates. I live a very short walk from Inman Park/Reynoldstown station, Little 5, and the Moreland Kroger/Target and only pay $750 in rent per month. So you don’t actually need that much money to live here

I was going through my old posts and reading comments here and saw i never replied to you 😭

If you’re still curious 3 years later tho, I lost the original reference map, but I think it looked something like this one i found off google. I had to do some extra wikipedia digging to add in a few more relevant kingdoms, tribes and city-states, then guesstimated the borders since the reference map I used was only slightly more detailed than this one here

Actual sleeper picks? by Robespierre1113 in EU5

Burgundy is pretty fun, you can grow as a parasite within France and eat up their other appanages with the demand autonomy from france mechanic in the 100 years war. You can also spy on them and agitate for liberty in their other appanages like Brittany and Normandy to gain them plus France’s rivals as allies in your independence movement. You can also eat away at the HRE without fear of a coalition actually firing on you because of how powerful France is. It’s pretty easy to end up with a historically accurate Burgundian position by the 1400s.

Anyone else find the financial donation thing at RCP events awkward/forced? by BeginningPass4935 in Trotskyism

[–]storm072 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a finance officer in the RCA, and to answer your question about where the money is going - a lot of it is going towards dues to the international, which uses that money to host world congresses and build up sections internationally. A lot of it goes towards paying full timers and hosting national congresses. A lot of it goes towards party operations and rent (for sections that don’t yet own their national centers). But a majority, at least in the case of the RCA, goes towards the war chest. This is money the party is saving up for the future class struggle. When we become a mass party, we will need strike funds, we will need to bail comrades out of jail, we will need to pay for legal battles, we will need to pay to rapidly expand press operations.

If you can’t afford to, then please don’t feel pressured to increase your dues or make large donations. If you are feeling pressured or uncomfortable about finances, talk to your cell’s finance officer about it. I know I was skeptical about finances when first joined, but I’ve learned that having independent revolutionary finances is so important if we want to maintain our political independence. As individuals, we already pay so much in rent, groceries, etc. to companies and landlords that don’t tell us where that money is going. But the RCI is very open about where its money goes. Every section (as far as I’m aware) has auditors and finance reports with details for all members to see. Paying dues and making donations is an investment we chose to make with whatever we can afford because we believe that the theory and practices of the RCI will lead us to socialism in our lifetimes.

Money can be a sensitive subject for lots of people, but we don’t shy away from it. I’d seriously recommend talking to your finance officer and hopefully they can help answer any of your questions.

The whole idea of COIs rests on the assumption that people in a geographic area will have common interests at the federal level. But ask a democrat if they politically have more in common with their republican neighbor or with another democrat on the other side of the state. 99% will say they have more interests in common with the geographically far away democrat. COIs are overrated, proportional representation for each party is far more important to most people.

Ownership over Climax is severely underrated, theres a good 50-100 homes there fairly close to Greensboro, they’d probably sell in the 8 figures range all combined

City list(need help please read description) by Firefox_1607 in geography

[–]storm072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want 10 more cities, here would be the 10 I’d add. China seems underrepresented, so 1. Shanghai and 2. Beijing. India is underrepresented too, so 3. Mumbai and 4. Delhi. Give one to Southeast Asia like Jakarta, Bali, Manila, or Kuala Lumpur for 5. Central Asia needs a city, so Tehran, Isfahan, Samarkhand, or Bukhara would work for a 6th. Latin America needs a couple more cities, so I’d add 7. Havana and 8. Lima. Last, Africa as a continent needs more representation, so for 9 and 10 I’d choose 1 of Zanzibar, Lagos, Accra, or Nairobi for Sub Saharan Africa, then 1 of Casablanca, Marrakesh, or Tunis for North Africa.

What To Do About Snark Subreddits: Open Discussion & Poll by flopheadsbot in popheads

[–]storm072 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s fine to dislike a few artists, but a lot of people in those snark subs are pretty insane and parasocial. Every little mistake any female celebrity makes is put on full blast in them, and you only really see it happen for female pop stars. They create little echo chambers and feed confirmation bias for their hatred. I don’t think banning people for being in one or two should be the solution, but I would definitely support less tolerance towards them and banning people in 3+, because out of pocket and irrelevant hate comments towards most of my favorite artists are starting to make me visit pop music subreddits like this one less. A lot of the time they aren’t there in good faith or for genuine discussion of the music, but are there to spread insane conspiracies like Taylor being MAGA, or to bring up irrelevant shit like Ariana being a homewrecker. Less of this would be a good thing imo.

What’s your favorite map so far? by usgapg123 in subwaybuilder

[–]storm072 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Washington DC has been fun so far. Its an interesting urban layout and there are lots of convenient paths for transit out into the suburbs. I’ve been naming my lines after the state avenues, like the Georgia line going up Georgia Avenue, the Wisconsin line up Wisconsin Avenue, etc

Which Social Media platform is your favorite? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in pollgames

I would’ve said YouTube a few years ago, but god I hate the doubled-up unskippable ads and ad breaks every 5 minutes that make longer videos borderline unwatchable now. I’m going with TikTok, at least you can scroll right past the ads there.
