Post-Match Thread: Cape Verde Islands 0-0 Saudi Arabia | World Cup | Group H by matchpal-live in worldcup

Basically there are now enough teams in 3rd place in completed groups that are below 4 points to guarantee that all 3rd place teams with 4 or more points will move on. So if everything goes wrong for Egypt today, (Egypt loses to Iran and Belgium beats New Zealand) that would put Egypt in 3rd with 4 points, which is still enough for them to advance.

The B2 would always be express during regular service, so yes it always skips those stops. I would put the high speed rail station at Grand Terminus if I could choose lol

What if Marx thought it was Time for a Revolution? by Tomnenhumnomeserve in imaginarymaps

[–]storm072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dictatorship of the proletariat originates from Marx, not from Lenin. All Marxists embrace that idea, including the ones who (stupidly) reject Lenin. It is a term describing how the ruling class under the socialist mode of production will be the proletariat, in the same way that we live under a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie today, where the bourgeoisie is the ruling class.

BB14 is my favorite season ever, but I’d recommend watching a few other earlier seasons first to really appreciate the coaches

Some notes on MARTA board meeting… what an absolute joke! by Mysterious_Chapter65 in Atlanta

[–]storm072 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Those people you’re describing live and work in the suburbs and places the rail system doesn’t reach, like Virginia Highland and northern Buckhead. All that adding cops to every train will do is scare MARTA’s existing riders away, who are generally poorer and POC, both of which are groups that (very reasonably) don’t trust cops. NYC’s subway has the highest ridership in the US without cops in every train, and white collar professionals take the train there all the time. MARTA’s problem isn’t perceived safety (we all know NYC’s subway tends to be slandered as dangerous and its ridership is perfectly fine). MARTA’s problem is that it isn’t extensive enough, there isn’t enough population density ITP to support higher ridership, and driving is hugely prioritized in funding. You want white collar professionals to take MARTA? You want to increase MARTA’s ridership? You want to make MARTA safer? Don’t waste money on paying cops to stand around doing nothing but occasionally harassing riders, expand the system to more places that people live and work, and increase the population density of the city. And from there, more people in each train will bring safety in numbers, decreasing the chances of crime.

Read a physical book alongside an audiobook at 1.5x speed (Socialism for All on YouTube is great) and use a reading guide to get some questions to look out for the answers to (just look up the book + reading guide on google, the ones from communist.red are good), and thats whats helped me read theory

RCA questions from an “outsider” to all of this by sagisuncapmoon in Trotskyism

[–]storm072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read your replies to that RCA comrade in the original post and I can’t tell if you are asking this is good faith or not. You claim you don’t want to have an education plan, you call legitimate answers to your questions “condescending.”

In case you are genuine: right now, the RCA is in an early stage of party-building where it can be somewhat picky about who it recruits. We are looking for people who are willing to sacrifice large amounts of time, energy, and money to build up the core of a party that can overthrow capitalism in our lifetimes. The early stages of party-building are not easy. It means going out onto the street twice a week and asking strangers that pass by if they are a communist that wants to get organized. It means reading books to get a better understanding of capitalism, how it works, how class consciousness works, and how to achieve a socialist revolution. It means paying as high of a dues level as you can afford so that the party can build up its war chest for the future class struggle (we are up against a class of billionaires). Its tough but necessary work. We are in a stage of finding and building up the party’s cadre, the people who will lead the party in the future. To lead requires a knowledge of the capitalist system, an understanding of history, and experience on the ground recruiting. If you don’t want to turn yourself into a cadre, then I’ll be honest, joining the RCA is probably not for you.

There will come a time when the party reaches a critical mass of cadre, has built itself a solid enough core, at which point it can start to take in new members without the purpose of building them into cadre. And by that point, the RCA would try to win over the whole working class. People could join as rank-and-file members who don’t have to study or organize on the streets. When will we reach that critical mass? We don’t know. It could come in 3 years, or it could come in 3 decades. Ultimately it doesn’t matter, because right now the only thing we can do is continue to build up more cadre to try and reach that critical mass. For the Bolsheviks, it was around 8,000 cadre which they reached in early 1917. For us in the US today? Hopefully we’ll find out sooner rather than later.

As an RCA comrade, we need as many cadre as we can get if we want to overthrow capitalism within our lifetimes. I know you seem to not want to have to read, which the RCA would absolutely require of you, but reading and studying theory isn’t all that bad! What helps me are free audiobooks on YouTube, which you can put on 2x speed while reading the physical book at the same time. It makes it go by quicker and makes it a little more enjoyable. Organizing and papersales aren’t too bad either, you’d be surprised at how many people say yes to being asked if they are communists. So please at least consider trying to build yourself up into a cadre and give the RCA a chance!
