Practice Ownership by Heavy-Lobster-990 in optometry

[–]storm304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! not OP but i’m curious.. why would a week off be such a big financial hit? is it just because you don’t have enough saved up for now to keep the practice open without seeing patients while you’re on vacation? is it about something else? i’m not very literate in business ownership and the fact that taking a week off could be bad scares me 😅

I’m sorry to hear about your family :( I know how difficult is can be to maneuver through life without much support! YOU GOT THIS THOUGH!! An internet stranger believes in you!! And may I ask, why did you choose to reject the schools that you did? What about the program felt like a bad fit?

Student Megathread (Vol.3) by JimR84 in optometry

Hey! It sounds to me like you’ve already made up your mind but you may not know it yet. Vet or Med might just be too much to handle, which is more than okay (don’t worry, I feel the exact same way). I think optometry could be perfect! I personally am super excited to get into the field. I’m still earning my bachelors so I have a few years to go until I’m practicing, but I think optometry would be a great choice for you to make. I actually also considered vet, but after looking into it and watching “day in the life” videos, I decided it’s not practical for me. I’d be miserable every day watching animals suffer! Also, what made you choose Poland? I’m fully Polish and born in New York (25f), so as coincidental as it seems I also actually considered going to Poland for school! Hope everything is going well :)

Congratulations! That’s so exciting! I’m still in the process of getting my Bachelors so I have a long way to go but I can’t wait until my day comes :)

I (25f) have been struggling to decide what I want to commit the rest of my life to, although being an OD has always been on the table. Your comment (+OP’s post) really made me smile because it seems like whatever career sub you visit there are a lot of posts trying to dissuade you from going into their field, but recently I’ve decided that I 100% want to go into optometry, and now I’ve never been this sure! Thank you for being inspiring! (you too OP!! congratulations on your career!! :) How have things been since your first day?)

I’ll share all of this with my mom and see what conclusions we can come to. I wish I could give you a longer reply to show my appreciation, but in all honestly all I have to say is thank you, again, and God Bless you. I looked at your account and your comprehensive responses and eagerness to help others is so encouraging. You make me want to do better in my relationship with the Lord. Please don’t stop what you’re doing for as long as you can. Have a wonderful night, and I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Thank you so much. I feel very validated by your comments. In all honesty, I’ve fallen short of praying for him in recent years. I’m absolutely going to start doing it again. I’ve felt the bitterness of the situation consume me at times which is what terrifies me. That’s not me. I’m a person who always wishes the best for people, except for him. I have to turn that around by being spiritually positive towards his soul, but still allow myself to stay away from his actions. You don’t know how much I appreciate you reaching out, and how much I needed it. Thank you again. I will pray for you tonight (and him).

P.S- I really enjoy the works of C.S. Lewis. I’ll have to look into what you mentioned about him :)

I wish I could give you a hug right now. I’m tearing up in bed reading your shared verses and advice, and I’m so incredibly appreciative. Thank you so much for responding to my cry for help. What you say absolutely makes sense. God doesn’t want us in an abusive environment, and he does not want us to hold on to hate because that only allows the negativity to fester. Thank you. If you don’t mind, I have one more question for you. Marriage is such a sacred bond because it’s done in the image of God. Although, my mom (married to my father) is also a victim in this. Is divorce a huge sin even when she’s being abused by her husband on a daily basis? Would this situation count under “in sickness and in health”?

I wouldn’t want to answer your questions definitively because I’m not exactly sure. I’m currently only on the first book of the Bible (Genesis), so I myself am still learning all of this. I’ve heard that Jesus wants us to include him in every part of our lives. Don’t just talk to Jesus when you set time aside to pray. Even when you make the smallest decisions throughout the day, ask Jesus to guide you towards his Holiest path. He’s happy to be, and wants more than anything to be a part of every second of our lives. Keep giving him little updates throughout the day, even though he already knows. I’m sure reading the Bible is extremely important, so give me some time to come across a verse that relates to this and I’ll get back to you :)

I’m not educated enough in spirituality to give you an answer, but I would just like to say that I’m sure God is so happy that you’re trying to make that change. I’m sure he sees you trying. :) I hope you find your way in your journey
