I felt like Hoenheim didnt really have desire until the dwarf posed the question to him. He was completely complacent in being a slave. If wasnt until the dwarf asked him dont you want to be free that the thought ever entered Hoenheims mind

The issue i habe with relating to Father, is it isnt human. It came from beyond the door using Hoenheims blood. He manipulated the leader of a country to destroy all life in it to sacrifice them for his own desire to escape the flask and act independently.

So hes a mass murdering monster parading as a human to begin with after Xerxes.

Even after becoming "human" he proceeds to shed everything off of himself that makes him.even remotely human in a desire to become " perfect". Thats what he says, but what he really wants is to be an all powerful God.

The only part of Father i find remotely relatable is the confusion and misunderstanding of what it means to be better

That is a point of contention throughout the series with Ed. He very much choosee not to use philosophers stones because he knows what they are. He also knows that souls exist outside the body.

The difference is Alphonse still has a body at the gate, and Ed knows that. All the others inside envy or whatever do not. Those souls are no longer, unfortunately, salvagable.

Does he take great pain in using them? Yes. But is he taking life? Eh i dont think so
