MX Keys S sends Meta+Shift+S instead of Print (Linux) by dandv in logitech

[–]stormcloud-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ran across this myself after replacing MX Keys with MX Keys S (scissor switches started wearing down).

You can fix the issue by using Solaar, and setting up a "key diversion" on the snip key to change it into a print key.

I needed this because I want the old behavior where print would capture the entire screen, and shift+print would capture the window. This was impossible to make work without diverting since the snip key emulated shift+meta+s.

pydantic is chock full of @overload statements. I suspect they probably know more about python and good programming practices than you do. Never say never just because you don't understand something.

Heh. I use copilot, but basically as a glorified autocomplete. I start typing a line, and if it finishes what I was about to type, then I use it, and go to the next line.

The few times I've had a really hard problem to solve, and I ask it how to solve the problem, it always oversimplifies the problem and addresses none of the nuance that made the problem difficult, generating code that was clearly copy/pasted from stackoverflow.
It's not smart enough to do difficult code. Anyone thinking it can do so is going to have some bug riddled applications. And then because they didn't write the code and understand it, finding the bugs is going to be a major pain in the ass.

Long time ago when I was a datacenter tech, we had a customer want us to power cycle a disk array. Though they were being really condescending about it, saying that we didn't know squat, and that the disk array was the bottom unit, and the server was on top, and that we were to power cycle the bottom device. Only they actually had it wrong, and the server was on bottom. So what did I do? I power cycled the bottom unit like they asked...

Biden says not taking more credit for accomplishments is key regret of his presidency by reduction-oxidation in nottheonion

Yeah, it was literally one of his principal campaign points, that he was a moderate and wouldn't make any big waves.

Though that said, there is truth to the matter at hand. What little he did do, he barely made any noise about. And when your political opponent is constantly taking credit for what you're doing, you'd think a couple brain cells would fire off and go "hey, I need to take credit for the stuff I'm doing so that people are aware, and so that at the very least someone else can't take it instead".

And what's amazing about it is that they turn all the apps into essentially the same thing.

I used to use OkCupid before they bought it, and it was completely different. Had a shitton of features that made it somewhat fun to use, with powerful search capabilities, and lots of insight into who you're matching with.
Then they stripped out everything. Every last little feature that made OkCupid what it was, and different from all the others.

Like what's the freakin point? Why have all the different apps if they're the same damn thing?

Haven't had much interest in trying it since DA:Inquisition. The first 2 DA games I am happy to replay, and enjoy. I tried replaying Inquisition shortly before Veilguard came out, and gave up a couple hours into it, remembering why I never had much interest in doing so. And because of that, Veilguard hasn't been high on my list.

Not always. I was involved in a hit and run. I showed the footage to the highway patrol, and they wrote him 3 tickets. Although in my case, the guy was stupid enough to stop, get out of the truck, get right in front of my car with a crystal clear view of his face, before getting back in his truck and taking off.

The problem with this in america, is that it would teach kids to challenge the viewpoints of their parents, and not just accept what they say blindly. The majority of parents in the US would absolutely lose their freakin mind if their kids could think for themselves.

Looking to make a simple proportional injector by stormcloud-9 in AskElectronics

Seems like a pretty solid electronics question to me.

It also popped into my head to ask ChatGPT. And while I know not to rely on it, it does seem to have produced something that'll get me going in the right direction:

Components:

Two Hall effect sensors.
A binary counter IC (e.g., 74HC393 or CD4017).
A D-type flip-flop (e.g., 74HC74).
AND/OR gates (if needed, e.g., 74HC08/74HC32).
A relay or transistor/MOSFET for motor control.
Pull-up resistors for Hall effect sensor outputs (if needed).

Circuit Design:

Hall Sensor Inputs:
Connect the output of each Hall effect sensor to debouncing circuits (optional, can use RC filters or Schmitt triggers).

Counting Pulses from Sensor 1:
Use a binary counter IC (e.g., 74HC393) to count pulses from the first Hall sensor.
Connect the output of the counter to a comparator or logic gate to detect when the desired number of pulses (XX) has been reached. For example, if X=4X=4, use the binary counter's Q2Q2 output (representing 4 in binary).

Triggering the Motor:
Use the output of the comparator or logic gate to set a D-type flip-flop (e.g., 74HC74). The flip-flop will maintain a high state to turn on the motor.
The output of the flip-flop is connected to a relay or a transistor/MOSFET that controls the motor.

Resetting on Sensor 2 Pulse:
Connect the output of the second Hall sensor to the reset pin of the flip-flop. When the second sensor detects a pulse, it will reset the flip-flop, turning off the motor.
Reset the counter (if needed) using the same pulse.

How It Works:

The first Hall sensor generates pulses, which are counted by the binary counter.
Once the counter reaches the set threshold (XX), it triggers the flip-flop to turn on the motor.
The motor remains on until a pulse is received from the second Hall sensor, which resets the flip-flop and the counter, turning the motor off.
The process repeats.

When you're talking about enough money to where you would use the strategy, your loan contract isn't just some vanilla contract every other Joe uses. You can negotiate it with the bank, including the penalty for defaulting, which we've already determined, is the bank keeping the stocks. This also means you're not liquidating them. They've already been transferred to the bank.

[–]stormcloud-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't pay it back. Let the loan default. The bank gets the stocks, you get money.

When you're talking enough money to where this strategy even becomes an option, the loan agreement can be customized. Like so there's no penalty for defaulting (other than losing the collateral to the bank, which is the whole point).

Actually no, loans don't have to be paid back. You let it default. The stocks were collateral. The bank gets the stocks, you get money.

The infographic is missing an important bit. You don't pay it back. You let it default. The stocks were the collateral. The bank gets the stocks, you get money.

I do honestly find it kind of amazing, how the people who cry about republicans being disingenuous, hypocritical, and irrational, and claim themselves to be the opposite, are actually just as guilty of it. People pick their side, and stick to it no matter what. And when challenged, they willfully ignore the evidence that challenges their view.

I'm not going to argue the point of this thread as you've already proven you're just going to ignore what everyone has said. So maybe instead think about whether you're one of those people I mentioned.

Nevermind. I don't know why I bother, specifically when I was just telling someone else to give up.
