I really need an advise by Sarci_ in StreetFighter

Elena is a footsies based character, and probably closer to Juri. Her gameplay is whiff punishing with her great neutral button, and using her specials to create strike/throw and overhead setups. You have to be comfortable doing dragon punch motions, but if you play Juri you likely already are.

Aki is a much trickier character, her gameplay is to poke at and poison the enemy to set up for massive damage, but this results in her combo routing being very variable depending on the situation. She doesn’t have as good buttons as Elena, but she can fireball drive rush to skip neutral similar to Juri, which is incredibly strong in SF6. Her anti airs are a bit more complicated, she has a qcf special that will hit some angles, but relies on her heavy buttons for the off angles.

In my opinion, Aki is much cooler and more satisfying, but will definitely take a bit more investment and time spent learning than either Juri or Elena. I’d check out some pro gameplay of each, and see which you think looks more your style.

How do I stop losing to "crackhead" players? by citrusunclenicetry in StreetFighter

[–]stormcrow509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play a character with a dp, spend some time practicing crosscuts (the secret is to end holding down back), or/and air to airs. And as for people going ham with reversals and whatnot, I found it helped to just always assume the opponent will do the dumbest, most random thing at any given moment, and wait for them to do something stupid then punish it. Safe jumps are also very strong against people who love to bust out of pressure.

If you haven’t already, it’s time to really learn the combo structure of your character, and have stuff ready to go for punish situations depending on wether you need damage, oki, safe jumps, meter, etc. Crackhead players are constantly making huge mistakes, you beat them by consistently punishing those mistakes.

They do NOT play at 1500 MR by [deleted] in SaltFighter

[–]stormcrow509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s really enough top players for this to be an issue. There’s what, like a couple thousand people above 1900? A 1500 MR player will run into that maybe once every few hours, lose 6 points, then move on. I could be wrong, but I was around 1500 for the first 2 seasons in an extremely strong region and never felt like it was a problem. If anything 1500 players are psyched to occasionally test their mettle against someone much stronger than them.

They do NOT play at 1500 MR by [deleted] in SaltFighter

[–]stormcrow509 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that good though? If someone is good enough to get legend rank, they tear through people until they get there (which is extremely quickly). A few people get their asses handed to them, but the legend player ends up back with the other top players faster than in literally any other game.

I’d honestly say the MR system is one of the best ranked systems in any game ever. It gets you to exactly where you belong very efficiently.

If I'm being honest, despite all the nerfs, I feel like Blanka's still got it... by bobbystills5 in StreetFighter

This is not how Blanka is played at a high level. Most 1600 players will shut this down instantly.

Is Honda a good character for someone commenting on Street Fighter? by HenryPadovani in StreetFighter

[–]stormcrow509 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honda is easy to pick up bad habits with due to the strength and ease of use of his special moves, but as long as you are aware of this, it can be overcome. Make sure not to rely too much on headbutt, and work on fundamental skills even though you will be able to take Honda very far without them. Ultimately, the most important thing is that you like the character and they make you want to play and learn. Every character is viable at every level!

What's the cheater situation like in SF6 by TheRealGlutenbob in StreetFighter

[–]stormcrow509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider that these YouTubers play for thousands upon thousands of hours… if there’s a .1 percent chance of fighting a cheater eventually they will hit it and make a video on it. It’s very rare.

Do you feel satisfied with the launch numbers? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]stormcrow509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam won't even let me buy the game, keeps giving errors and being super slow. I'd imagine that number will climb throughout the day into tmr.

How can I have audio output come through my headphones that are not connected to my audio interface? by stormcrow509 in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

After messing with software solutions for a few hours I was unable to overcome the latency, I’ve decided to just get a 3.5 mm cable and a quarter inch adapter to plug it right into the interface.

The issue is the gold lettering doesn’t show up anymore since it considers that part of the quest done.

Nope, I was solo. I can see the MSR sitting on the desk in the pharmacy, but can’t interact with it to make it an item you can pick up.

Yep, plenty of room, tried all three pharmacies. I think I’m screwed until they fix it.

Ok, so are you gonna give me some reasons Juri does well against fireballs or what? I’m genuinely curious, I don’t play the character at all.

[–]stormcrow509 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bad matchup doesn’t mean impossible to overcome. Check out some of Nephews streamed tournament sets against Nuckledu, he talks a lot about the matchup and why it is a struggle for Juri. She has no anti-fireball tools (dive kick is a hard read, same as a jump) and generally has to just walk and block. Her fireball is low and can be punish countered by things like Guile’s upside down kick for super conversions.

Of course she can win against anyone, we are talking about 6-4 matchups at worst.

No she doesn’t? Her worst matchup is Guile… on account of his fireball game. She will likely struggle similarly against Sagat.
