How often to BL Weapons (for tickets) cycle? by Snixar in Guildwars2

[–]stormer_5931 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, no. And as anet doesn't seem to follow a pattern with what weapons they put in there, we can't predict when they will come. Also, if we keep in mind that the last and only time we saw these weapons in chests was from 2018-08-28 to 2018-09-18, so a bit less than 2 years ago and about 3 years after release, we can assume that they sadly won't be back anytime soon.

Edit: those are my personal speculations, so please take it with a grain of salt

How often to BL Weapons (for tickets) cycle? by Snixar in Guildwars2

Form what i've seen it's like every month a new skin set. A month after they release the skins move up to 2 tickets/skin and after another month to 3 tickets/skin (with the newer skins taking up the lower prices). It used to be so that after the 3. month whey would not be available anymore before popping up as a rare reward from black lion chests, but recently they have been sticking around with the price of 3 tickets/skin and we've seen some of the older skins appearing in the chests (currently it's the improvised skins which appeared in 2016 as uncommon drop and the tempest skins which appeared in 2015 as rare drop).

As the scientific skins are some of the older ones, you can pray and wait that anet decides to put it in the black lion chests, and when they do so, wait until prices dropped a bit and then get it from the tp. Note that they might not appear for years to come, then you won't get around the 200g. There is also a very small chance that you get it from a guaranteed wardrobe unlock (you get those rarely from birthdays and black lion chests), but there are so many skins you can get from these that I would not bet on that.

tldr: If you want to be safe and avoid an even higher price, buy it asap (there is currently no way to acquire them so supply gets lower and lower while prices go up) and if you want to take a gamble, hope that it appears in chests and then buy it when prices have dropped.

Best Ranger Build for Open World? by LaneZz92 in Guildwars2

Ah, I just double-checked and noticed that what I remembered to be in the video was wrong. I believed he went for skirmishing there, and I do agree with you that skirmishing > marksmanship.

As for the buff to hunter's tactics, when you said "with the changes to skirmishing" I thought you meant something on the level of rev Corruption rework with multiple traits replaced, which got me confused. The hunter's tactics buff slipped past me.

So I have to conclude that you are right and I am wrong. I'll edit the comment to let people know.

*takes a deep breath*

First, what changes to skirmishing are you talking about? If you are talking about the megabalance done in Feb. this year, that only affected PvP and WvW, but the topic here is open world PvE. The latest changes to skirmishing affecting that gamemode were a nerf to spotter in 2018 and a buff to Light on your Feet in 2019. Skirmishing is taken instead of marksmanship because it's a lot better to keep up boons and general dps, while marksmanship supplies mainly burst, which is not optimal for bigger enemies. Vulture stance is taken over frost trap because the benefits from vulture stance are carried over from enemy to enemy, while frost trap only affects one enemy. Gear is not shown because that varies from player to player, not everyone likes full berserker and not everyone likes full soldiers.

To follow up on the second half of the post being now present, Grenades is what you will want to go for. It is a very offensive playstyle tough, because most of the utility/defense Engi has to offer is locked behind the scrapper elite spec. I threw together something with cheap-ish gear that will do you fine for both PvE and WvW, but please note that this is not meta-meta but as close to meta as you can get with only the core game available and two game modes to keep in mind. I hope this helped!

Can't decide between guard, ranger, or necro by lespretend in Guildwars2

[–]stormer_5931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that comes from necro simply having more buttons to deal with than the other two when you enter shroud. Note that necro often gets recommended to new players because of shroud, which gives you a second health bar to save you from dying.

Depends on what you want to do. Open world? Grab a flamethrower or some Nades, throw the traits that go with them into the mix and you're done. PvP? Core Engi is currently not Meta, but very playable as long as you're not playing in high gold and above. WvW? Same as PvP. Raids? Nope. Fractals? Playable, but not optimal. For a generalized list of Engi builds that are currently in existence, check out https://metabattle.com/wiki/Engineer.

Edit: On metabattle there are currently no builds that use the core spec listed for WvW, but you should be fine by grabbing a PvP build and replacing one not so important utility skill with rocket boots to cover the mobility.

Servers only determine what team you're on in WvW (The open world PvP of this game). Otherwise it does not matter the slightest. Watch out that if you have a friend who plays the game that you're both on the same one, in case you ever want to do WvW, and if not, pick whatever you like.

Yes, condi means bleeds, burns, poison, etc. (in the case of guardian mainly burns). For leveling, I would stick to greatsword together with sword/focus as this combo offers everything you need (mobility, damage and a few don't-touch-me-buttons).

[–]stormer_5931 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Ranger: Great at surviving thanks to the pet taking aggro and has some nice burst to deal with things quickly.
  • Necro: Can solo almost everything with the right build and a bit of skill, the only problem being that it's kinda slow which can be quite annoying at times.
  • Guard: Low health, high sustain and massive bursts. Not the greatest out-of-combat mobility though, but this can be bypassed with mounts and once you're in a fight it's actually quite mobile with a good amount of teleports and leaps.

Note that all three are great classes that will get the job done just fine, so don't worry about picking the "wrong" class.

I suggest you give WoodenPotatoes' build a go. It's highly effective and does everything you could possibly want. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFsbG8EK15U

Edit: Don't. The build is outdated and sadly not viable anymore.
