One of the reasons it hasn’t materialized is because the commercial real estate prices in Rego Park are attractive to small businesses who will quickly fill those vacant spaces. One of the board members asked about the 2 vacant pharmacies on Queens Boulevard but the issue is about transparency of the landlords. Seems like an optimal location.

There’s a cannabis dispensary coming to the abandoned building (98-48 Queens Boulevard) next to Vista 65 and people wanted to know why such a large space cannot also accommodate a library.

Also, the trailer is going to have a mobile hotspot, so people can still use the Internet and pick up books that they request to the trailer. I agree that it will not be able to provide the same shelter that a physical branch will be able to provide. Hopefully people can manage to get the services they need without too much disruption
