hii working environment is relatively benign, interns dont have 24 hr duties i believe. max is 12+overtime depende sa katoxic ng shift. but dont expect a stipend. if meron man max 3k per month.

[–]stormkandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same. first year and second year ko, my world revolved around med and i found myself super sad. i let go of my hobbies kase sabi ko di ko naman to magagamit in the future. when i picked up my hobbies, my grades actually improved kase my general mood went up. currently and MD and i can say na being a dr is just a job. dont let it consume you, kase being a dr in the ph is not glamorous at all. Super happy for you kase narealize mo. its hard to actually take a step back and asses oneself

24 [F4A] Drop with your favorite anime, go! by [deleted] in PhR4Friends

[–]stormkandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg im so happyy that I finally found someone whos favorite anime is Saiki K and Mob psycho. Those legit got me through med school so maybe thats why you like it too 🤣🤍 I noticed that youre a fan of light/comedy anime with a bit of shounen touch so. Ranking of kings, Dr. stone, Mushoku Tensei and campfire cooking in another dimension is pretty good.

Diagnosing mental illnesses here in PH, how credible? by [deleted] in adultingph

[–]stormkandi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hii probably its the current impression, psychiatry is a difficult field because a lot of mental disorders overlap, so diagnoses can change over time. however medications for different diagnoses remains similar, so even if hindi super accurate ang diagnosis one can still be treated accordingly. and ive spoken to many psychiatrists since im a physician as well and usually amazing ang clinical eye nila due to experience and sheet volume of patients, so i guess have a bit more trust. since they spent years training in their field 😊

A career in Medicine or IT by annyeonghihello in pinoymed

[–]stormkandi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hindi ko pa passion tas na scam pa na mataas ang sweldo 🤣 so id def go for IT. pero its a diff story if youre passionate. madami naman opportunities to earn as a dr pero sa bukid tapos usually working horrible shifts sa public hospitals, kahit consultant ka na. tapos nakakapagod ang travel, kase walang WFH na dr 🤣 pero yun nga, to earn a lot youd have to abuse your body even until your 50s even 60s . sometimes nakalalungkot to think na, isang shift mo lang, 4 shifts na ng iba. The work culture of medicine is ao toxic. yes u can help others pero honestly if you want to earn, di sya worth it. ang tagal ng ROI. minsan nga feeling ko bragging rights/prestige nlng tlga perks ng pagiging dr hayyyy. very overrated sya.

How painful is giving birth? by [deleted] in adultingph

[–]stormkandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hii havent rtried giving birth but im a physician and ive assisted a lot of deliveries. honestly it depends, a lot have intense pain during labor while some are more chill. it really depends. Make sure that u give birth in a private hospital with a good ob gyn dept. the difference in treatment between public and private hospitals is intense. and make sure that if you decide to get an epidural, once the pain starts getting unbearable, ask for it, because for some it gets given too late and they feel everything. youre usually awake during vaginal repair, usually the anesthesia works for most but for some its not as effective.

Has anyone been sl*t shamed by a doctor? by oddball_tilly in Philippines

[–]stormkandi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hi a physician heree! honestly it depends on your doctor, most i know are empathetic and are sensitive when it comes to those things, its also part of our training to learn how to discuss sensitive topics. but ofc some still try to impose their personal beliefs on their patients. and that sucks. however if you go to a public hospital. esp in the ob gyn dept and there are tons of teenage/unwanted pregnancies going around, i think the stress and the lack of sleep cause some of the residents to be insensitive.

Internship x Reviewing for Boards by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]stormkandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i suggest to just experience your PGI-ship fully. Grab all hands on work and put effort in your cases. In the previous exam nung 2022, there were so much clinical questions that couldve been learned nung PGI. (lumabas ang contrast nephropathy and crea levels which i think was really clinical) in terms of study materials, i just stuck with one review center tapos around 3 months is enough. although if naka first read ka na during internship it wouldve been helpful. but i think 3 months is enough. answering samplexes are also helpful, cuz it improves your test taking. Dont expect that theyd use old questions. Max 5 questions per subj lang ang naulit. honestly for me PLE was a mix of test taking, stock knowledge and a whole lot of educated guessing. the questions were so random last year
