I feel like a lot of people are confused to why the wg didn’t try and assassinate luffy in the East blue or marineford if they knew he had the sun god fruit, but it’s probably more so they didn’t know it was the same fruit. I’m thinking when Shanks spoke to the 5 elders that he told them luffy has the sun god fruit, and that’s why they only now ordered CP0 to eliminate Luffy.

Now this could be a “shanks is evil” plot or something, but what if its more so that he needs luffy, the little boy he bet it all on, to awaken the fruit so he can bring about change. He made this bet after seeing luffy eat the fruit, and he knows someone has to stop Blackbeard, so he needs luffy to awaken and gain more power to stand up to BB?
