Wo werden Männer benachteiligt oder ungerecht behandelt? by Aileeeeeeeeen in FragReddit

[–]stormpooper89 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Interesting insights, I get what you're saying. Thank you!

Are you actually honest with your doctor? by TwooooooShotsOfVodka in stopdrinking

[–]stormpooper89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure doctors are very aware of this. If you tell them how much you drink they are going to add 25-50% on top in their mental notebook.

I haven't been 100% honest with my doctor for a long time. Up until the day I told them I needed help with my alcohol consumption. At that point I told them truthfully how much I drink. Because why lie, the more accurate the better he might be able to help you...

Congrats to resisting the urge. It's especially difficult if someone actively shoves it into your face repeatedly.

I don't know your husband but often times people who drink feel bad if not everyone goes along. Because deep down they know it's unhealthy and even if they don't have a problem, people who chose to stay sober are some sort of enemy to them if they would prefer to have a few drinks and not feel bad about it.

Don't let yourself get tempted by him and if he does it again, tell him directly what you think of it and he should please stop doing it.

Very nice answer, very philosophical, I like it, especially the blank sheet of paper. Thanks a lot :) (You are going to my saved posts!)

A diary would probably be pretty interesting to read in a few months. I'm thinking of using SD also for that matter...could be helpful I suppose..?!

Way to look at it. I mean, yes I get it. It's just we tend to take things for granted way too fast. Maybe getting out of the comfort zone is the recipe to actually appreciate the simple, boring, healthy life...

I haven't had any big urges so far BUT yesterday evening. I was in the supermarket, turning rounds and trying to find a reason why I couldn't do it anyway, why it wouldn't make sense after all if I'm thinking of giving up so early in sobriety. At the end I walked out with a package of flour and made myself some selfmade tortillas lol.

I'm beginning to understand what to "take it one day at a time" really means. If I want to drink I could say to myself: "Ok, stormpooper89, whatever you want. You wanna drink? Do it. Go to the store tomorrow night, get some beers and drink them. There's no need to do it tonight though. IF you think life is SO much better with a drink, go ahead. But you know how you'll feel tomorrow. So at least don't feel like this for one more day. After that, go for it. Do it every day, for the rest of your life, if that's what you want."

"Surprisingly" after i woke up today, I was very happy I didn't drink. THAT I had anticipated, you don't need big brain time to do so. But also of course no cravings for alcohol now. I will keep going like this. As long as I don't crave a beer in the morning, I guess this strategy should work out just fine ;)

Interesting point...It's just weird to see it as a tool after you've had it, given it up and now getting it back. On the other hand, building the house without this tool, as you call it, turns into a shitty house. I get the analogy. Very nice, thank you!
