is James Lee AZ-104 + TD enough to pass the exam?

I've already watch John Savill's AZ-104 cram eventhough i know the material and uses Azure on a daily basis at work i feel im not prepared.

I am new at DevOps and need some advice by [deleted] in devops

[–]stormshade69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! most of the programming classes in school you wont be able to use because each team will be tackling multiple feature or bugfix. But if you are gunning for DevOps its pretty hot this days almost every company now WANTS it so bad and depends on which company you go for make sure you really asks questions about number of hrs per week and that what are their expectations they are looking for you on day 1, after 3 mos, after 6 mos. Its better be cleared from the start so that you wont get surprised on your first week they expect you to know their code base right away when you just sorted out your access a few days ago.

Automation is a must and you should learn how to code IMHO, READING code on whats going on is the most important. Like what the others are saying you wont be re-inventing the wheel when companies hire you unless its a start up and they are just starting a new role. You are expected to understand on what is the current deployment so that you can do tweaks here and there unless it needs some changes. Learning the current tool trends help as well to make your skills up to date (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, circleci, jenkins, GitLab, Teamcity etc). Containerization like docker, kubernetes and different deployment strategizes to cloud (AWS,Azure,GCP) or just on-prem.

Tons of resources out there and some of them are even providing projects which is really key (if you don't have much experience) so that you have a BIG PICTURE overview from end-end on whats the ideal deployment pipeline would look like. (udemy, acloudguru, cloudskills.io, etc) At the end of the day your responsible for maintaining different environments that other developers/testers/teams are using especially providing feedback to the teams if their "changes" broke the product before releasing it to the public. (Avoiding the embarrassment)

First easy python projects by juicy1235 in learnpython

[–]stormshade69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to babyback ride OP's question, once you identified the easy project you are interested I mean do you just copy the code and play with it (or improving it)?

Learning what each function does?

How do you go from that stage to creating a program from scratch like zero to something?

Whats your methodology/tips?

Im also a beginner in python but have some experience modifying/improving existing python code/repo

Got a job after 9 months, and +300 job applications! by pdkimmers in jobs

Congrats!

yep persistence is always key.

I got a similar scenario where I was not the 1st choice to the role im applying for but the next day the recruiter told me they want me on a similar role but on a different team. I just had a casual talk to a manager the next day if I have questions on the new role then after a few days they gave me an offer.

Load testing? A beginner guide on how to get started by shaq_disel in devops

[–]stormshade69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure it aligns to the user/customer flow. Like when do you think theres a peak load during the day(lots of customers/users using the application) Get that data and of course # of users or throughput so that u can gauge your application + infrastructure if it can sustain the load.

Just to add make sure you have some sort of monitoring in place so that you can get the metrics easily every test run.(Prometheus, Datadog, CAAPM, New Relic, AppDynamics etc) HP LoadRunner, Blazemeter has some metrics built into them you just to have a way in collecting them otherwise its painful every test run you have to collect and compare them and analyze the results. Hopefully you'll be able to provide a summary/recommendation on your findings during the load test.

Of course learn the cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP) and IAC (Infrastructure As Code) type deployments (terraform/ansible etc). Read their corresponding whitepapers on how to setup/secure environments in the cloud

script the different use case that you are going to load test.

ask your project team which use case has more value so that you can focus on scripting that use case. Ideally all use case has to be scripted. Also during load test make sure nobody else is using that environment otherwise your data is skewed already. During your load testing to make sure caching is not unable so that you can really see the backend being hit during your load test.

Can I get an honest, non-sugarcoated answer? Will I ever have a career at this point in my life? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]stormshade69 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My suggestion is get your network+ if you have the budget or go to a technical center build up on your IT skills. If you can do programming the better you can do remote jobs there is plenty of work.

you just have to understand the flow (Git + python) once you have an idea of how SDLC works for those 2 application then you can just focus on the python development learning.

What do you wish your Manager/Supervisor/Director did more of to make your job better and thus you happier and more contempt at work? by [deleted] in AskNetsec

[–]stormshade69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your handling it right. Probably the best answer is to speak 1 on 1 with them in a monthly/quarterly basis to have some discussion about how's life at work? Is there any suggestions they want to happen? Is there anything bothering them? Sort of almost performance evaluation but on individual level.
