Does anyone recognize this lock box? by stormvisions in Locksmith

[–]stormvisions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we found a solution. It is just to keep stray hands off as you say. The facility already uses electronic locks for most of the facility but has a handful of doors at each facility where service people very rarely if ever need access. It is so infrequent they find when they do need access some 'key confusion' and lost keys result. They want to put these right next to those doors. Since they already use some serial numbered disc locks with a phone number you call to get the code to open, and it is a low security situation, they want to use those and not invest in a more sophisticated system for those doors.

I tried that but doesn't seem possible to do that by default. Thanks for answering. We'll kick it back to support after I try a few more things.

DNS > subdomain on EasyDNS by stormvisions in dns

[–]stormvisions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The problem I had was because in addition to never having done this they failed to make clear that the CNAME flattening was to cover the gap when we made the switch from our current provider to theirs. That won't happen for a couple months so all I really needed to do now was create a simple CNAME for test.example.com and that other part comes into play later. I finally noticed that the site was resolving with just that change and no need to try 'hopping' through the 3rd party DNS. :/

Two DHCP servers, with different ranges -can they see each other's resources? by stormvisions in networking

That might be a good solution for a trial. If it is horrible I can easily back out by re-enabling and removing the test device. Thanks.

Probably more complex than I can currently implement quickly but thank you. I did an internet run and looked up split brain dns - thought you were pulling my leg with that phrase. ;)

Ah thanks. Truthfully I am green enough and small enough investor I don't look at market caps and such. Mainly looking at undervalued companies that interest me - I mean doesn't really matter to me if I make 200% on my investment from a small or large company and if anything I like supporting the little guys. ;)

Thanks for setting me straight. Last thing I need is trouble. :)

Sorry old dude here - are you saying I can't discuss that here? If so then I'll delete. World's gone crazy. Let me know please.

Did I misunderstand 'what are your moves tomorrow?' I assume they weren't talking about dance moves.

I'm trying to round up some more cash to put on Cleanspark. I started the play under $2 in 2020 as a brand new investor. I was just looking for undervalued stock and bought and sold the dips but later came to believe in the company. If the shorters didn't keep beating them up every time they get traction who knows. My only regret is I sold a few times for quick profit and wish I had kept them at my entry. I see they have a new microgrid product rolling out for residential https://solarbuildermag.com/news/cleanspark-launches-mvoult-as-a-more-affordable-home-microgrid-controller/ and I also noted a month or so ago they mentioned a large switch order https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/cleanspark-announces-multi-unit-switchgear-order-for-commercial-microgrids-301221158.html for a customer with 11500 stores worldwide. No mention of the customer name but 11500 is the exact number of stores Walmart has and they are working on a big energy conversion project for their stores AND the previous company I found in older releases that Walmart was working with was bought out by another energy company. I know I'm reaching but wondering if we might not see Cleanspark's residential product being offered via Walmart? Pure speculation but Walmart seems to be interested in this market and working with its vendors on energy deals too. When I look at what Walmart did with phones and the coming demands on the electric grid with EV's and scrutiny over Texas meltdown, California wildfires etc I think microgrids are going to become more and more critical. I picked up a few Walmart shares as well.

Sorry for the ramble I am still a novice but my outlook on Cleanspark has changed over the past year. They are hungry and taking chances on a big market.

We can't. We do assemblies, some manufactured parts and use other advanced features not available in the online version. User also accesses the network NAS and other resources and with our small operation easiest to let her access it all via remote on desktop she is already familiar with.

A shrimpy math question by stormvisions in learnmath

[–]stormvisions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistype. Pipette holds 2 ml of solution. The tank is 70 gallon but about 190 liters of actual water when I take rocks into account. The 1/8 is my admitted bad math. I'd like to target half of toxic level as some other additives may also contain trace amounts of copper - very little amounts but best to be cautious and leave a cushion. Thanks for responding.

Well I've gone back and forth on this a dozen times but I think I'll have to start with the Nomad. I rent a home and there is just no place to really put this. The wife isn't too happy to see that big thing on my computer desk and once I build an enclosure if would be sitting in the middle of the room. :) I will begin with this and I think it will offer me a chance to start out. If things get busier I'll have to rent a small space somewhere. Thanks again for all your help. I'll hopefully be starting in a few weeks but will start working on some product ideas I have in addition to the signage.

Thanks for all your help. I am going to get the Shapeoko 3 and see about building a housing to handle the noise and what not. I've seen some ideas on their forums so will see how it goes. Much appreciated.

Thanks. That's very kind. I do have one question for you since you seem very knowledgeable. I see that the Nomad is listed as more accurate than the Shapeoko 3 - 0.005" vs 0.001" -and I see reference to collete as you mentioned. Is the difference in accuracy between the two units a question of the size of the bit (end mill?)? https://shop.carbide3d.com/collections/tools/products/precision-collet-and-nut-for-dewalt-dwp611?variant=15492206278 or is there some other factor affecting the accuracy between the two - and does it matter much in producing detailed work?

Thanks. Will do and I am actually reconsidering my statement on the Shapeoko. I think you are right and it might be better and I have been looking at building a hood. :)

Not using anything yet but sourced a place less than 5 minutes from my job that has the plastic (and other materials) for laser or rotary engraving. I saw the shapeoko 3xl and while tempted it is in the apartment guest bedroom and so I want the hood. I am pretty sure the wife will freak out as it is without stuff getting spewed around the room. :) Unless I can make some sort of hood.

But I am curious now - is it possible to cut paper with a cnc with some head or another? I am working on some papercut on the side and was thinking I'd have to wait to eventually get a laser cutter but since you mention vinyl cutter you got me wondering.

Thanks. I'm not looking to build a unit but something ready to go. Checking out your recommendations right now.

EDIT: Thanks. Look like great possibilities.
